I shared this sentiment yesterday, but seemingly, things are only getting worse on this board. There is a lot of doom and gloom on the board about how the Pats will fare without Tom Brady, and as a result, there is a lot of reactionary speculation that they will be able to win the SB without him. I don't expect people to avoid talking about how this team will fare without Brady, of course not, but I think some fans are missing out on a key point...

As I said yesterday, this [this being a potential season ending injury for #12] goes beyond that. If Tom Brady is truly out for the season, and if we learn that information today, we should a) feel for Tom Brady, who is as hard working as any player, and has delivered us sporting memories beyond our wildest dreams - Tom would've only played 15 plays this entire season, and I'm sure that doesn't sit well with him b) feel robbed of one season of the brilliance and greatness which we have had the amazing fortune of witnessing this decade. An NFL career is a short life, and assuming Brady has 5 or 6 years left, he [and we as Patriot fans] was robbed of somewhere between 15-20% of that remainder yesterday.

Please keep that thought in mind whether you think the Pats are going to go 4-12 or 12-4.

It sucks that he's out, he's the best ever, but I put a persons health above any nfl record any team can get, and hope he getts better soon.

I cannot imagine why anyone would cheer for an injury to someone who works his butt off more than any other player, who always has a bright disposition, who is at the top of his game, and who is a class act.

    I agree 100%.

I said it a few weeks ago - I wouldn't want to see Manning go down for the same reason I would hope Colts fans wouldn't want to see Brady go down. We're talking about living sports legends in the primes of their career - that's something you don't take for granted as a sports fan.

But it goes beyond just other teams' fans - our own fans need to acknowledge this fact. You gotta feel for Tom today for sure.

Good post. I think, in the long run, Brady will be just fine, and QB is a position where you can play at a more advanced age. At least his body won't be taking a beating this year. I'd be very concerned if he were a WR or LB or RB or something like that. But he doesn't run much anyway, so I think that by this time next year, he'll be back there doing his usual thing.

Forget that. 80% of Colts fans on any of their boards are thrilled about Tom's injury.

What breaks my heart is that we are losing a year of Brady-Moss. Windows on playing careers are small and losing a year of both of them in their prime together is such a waste. Not only are Patriots fans losing out, NFL history is losing out.

While Brady will be back next year, Bo Jackson's injury comes to mind. Raiders fans weren't the only ones who lost that year. We all did. Dan Marino's injury in 93 also comes to mind. It sucks losing a year of watching a great player whether they are your own or even a rival.

I agree, this likely won't be something that has long term ramifications. These injuries are - unfortunately - getting incredibly common and the treatment of them is getting faster and more successful.

That's pretty pathetic. Well, we seem to have a few classier Colts fans on this forum that have been more respectful. I guess they are in the minority.

Well said. I think this is the big point that a lot of patsfans seem to be missing - on both sides of the "how will we do the rest of the year" fence.

I knew it. Some of the gleeful comments about Osi the giant defensive end were bad karma. It is plain dumb to be pleased about an injury to anyone.

I don't believe in karma, but I agree that being happy about any injury is not a good thing.

I've been having a very similar thought to this recently, well stated. I also agree that as bad as this is for us fans and for the team's outlook with regard to W/L, you really have to hand your heart out to Tom at this time. Poor guy loves to compete and now that's been taken from him.
