Sunday Ticket for $100: a great value for out of town NFL fans

Re: OT: Anyone buying Madden 25 with the Sunday Ticket package?

Preordered it months ago for the ps3... Don't even own a ps3.

Do people actually pay more than face value for this on Craigslist on release day?

Oh They do.. Some Mom and Pop stores already have it and will release it to people.. happens a lot in NYC..

It was a NO BRAINIER to get this the package.. even if I didn't own xbox I would get it.> And I love the redzone and have season tickets.. But there are games I would like to follow that aren't on national tv.. And just watching the scoring drive isn't enough for me.. Very interested in watching the NFC WEST this year..

Re: OT: Anyone buying Madden 25 with the Sunday Ticket package?

I passed. I never really got into Madden. I just am not interested in playing football on the X-Box, even though I'm a football junkie. There's enough college and NFL action for me, and CFL or even Arena League if I need a fix.

FWIW, I also never understood the whole Fantasy Football addiction either. Seems like Dungeons & Dragons for jocks. :D

Make sure you guys read the fine print:

For fans who are not currently DirecTV subscribers but are able to receive DirecTV service, they will receive a promo code entitling them to $10 off per month for their first year of service and one year of NFL Sunday Ticket Max at no additional charge.

♦For fans who are already DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket Max subscribers, you can access NFL Sunday Ticket on your computer, tablet, and mobile devices using your current DirecTV username and password.

♦For fans unable to receive DirecTV service, each Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition will include a unique code to access the 2013 regular season (17 weeks) trial of NFL Sunday Ticket on computers, tablets, and mobile devices- including access to the award-winning Red Zone Channel.

Keep in the mind that the third group – “fans unable to receive DirecTV service” – would be very limited in scope and not those who simply have cable instead of DirecTV. That is for the people who can’t get DirecTV where they live. So the Anniversary Edition of Madden NFL 25 will really only appeal to hardcore Ultimate Team players and those starting new service with DirecTV or that fall into that specific group that can’t get DTV even if they wanted to.

From someone who called them:

I’ve now called in and spoken to DirecTV representatives, as have others, and been told unless verification is made determining you are unable to get DTV service where you live (based on satellite positioning or living in an apartment building) you will not be granted access to the anything this deal offers. Again…buyer beware unless the language of the terms is altered

From someone who called them:

There's been a ton of debate about this on fatwallet and elsewhere and the consensus has been that it will work. I was extremely dubious myself, but since I actually can't get DirecTV I'm not expecting a fight.

I'm gonna wait for people to verify the access code. I just cancelled dtv so I don't know which category I fall in. In any case, just wait a while. If it doesn't work, return it.

... I'll be out of the country the entire month of September(maybe first week of October too), any one know if this will work oversees, or, they block the IPs outside US?

Am I the only one who feels that 100$ per season is all NFL Sunday ticket should be anyway? I'd pay that just to watch the Pats games (I'm in SC.) Not that it will ever be offered if the NFL can make 200$ or more a season off the 5% of lemmings willing to pay it each and every year.

Oh, man. I just ordered this and I can get DirecTV but I can't because when I redid my roof they told me my warranty would be voided if I put a satellite dish up there and there is really no other way to do it. I am not voiding a warranty on a roof that cost us so much money.

how on earth can they confirm whether your apartment building, etc. can get direct TV? What if my landlord doesn't allow it?

I think its funny that all these game playing fantasy geeks ponied up 100 bucks for a VIDEO GAME thinking they were going to watch sunday ticket on their game systems etc....but they didn't read the fine print and now they're sol....buyer beware!

Little tip to help some of you. Ive been an NFL package subscriber for several years and every year I call and let them know its too expensive and I'm going to have to cancel. They cut $100 every year. Try it. You will save some money.

I got the 100 dollars off last year.

This year I called and after talking to the initial person who offered a token rebate, I apologized and requested that they connect me with someone that could help me with ending my Direct T.V. service. I told the customer retention rep that NFL.com was offering streamed games for $79 and I couldn't justify paying $300.00 and my regular monthly rate for cable.

In the end, they gave me the package for free with the MAX thingy. I had to sign a one year contract, but I had no problem committing for a year. They are desperate to keep long term customers, and will use the package as a carrot. I basically told them I only have Direct T.V for the football and they caved.

Before this year, I too have been getting Sunday ticket for free if I sign a one year contract. But I can't justify spending $100 a month just to watch football. So I cancelled this year.

Anyway my madden just shipped. I guess people won't be able to verify if it works until the season starts.

I lived in Europe one football season. I got around copyright issues with freeware proxy tools. There is NO college football outside the US.

Pay attention to your bill.

My wife was reviewing our DirecTV bill tonight and Sunday Ticket was on there without us ordering it. We haven't ever had it - they tried slamming it in.

I'm sure it was an honest mistake on their part...

If it doesn't work then I am the proud owner of a Madden game for Xbox when I do not even own an Xbox.

I had a similar situation on my old house. The guy that installs the dishes for DirecTV said "no problem" and attached the dish to the side of the house, with metal bracing up under the eaves. It worked great, wasn't attached to the roof and got the job done just ducky.

DirecTV will send a guy to your house to discuss installation with no charge to you for the house call. At least, they did for me when I enquired about my situation.

For example the NFL has allowed people outside of the US to get NFL games via the Internet for a couple of years now for a low price (about $100 a year), but have never offered that to people in the US.

I wish that were true before, as if it were they'd have had my money already for several years. If I recall correctly it was something ridiculous like $250 per year. Looks like they've dropped the price, thankfully, so they shall have it this year.

right now the trade in value of madden is 48 dollars.
