Do people actually pay more than face value for this on Craigslist on release day?
For fans who are not currently DirecTV subscribers but are able to receive DirecTV service, they will receive a promo code entitling them to $10 off per month for their first year of service and one year of NFL Sunday Ticket Max at no additional charge.
♦For fans who are already DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket Max subscribers, you can access NFL Sunday Ticket on your computer, tablet, and mobile devices using your current DirecTV username and password.
♦For fans unable to receive DirecTV service, each Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition will include a unique code to access the 2013 regular season (17 weeks) trial of NFL Sunday Ticket on computers, tablets, and mobile devices- including access to the award-winning Red Zone Channel.
Keep in the mind that the third group – “fans unable to receive DirecTV service” – would be very limited in scope and not those who simply have cable instead of DirecTV. That is for the people who can’t get DirecTV where they live. So the Anniversary Edition of Madden NFL 25 will really only appeal to hardcore Ultimate Team players and those starting new service with DirecTV or that fall into that specific group that can’t get DTV even if they wanted to.
I’ve now called in and spoken to DirecTV representatives, as have others, and been told unless verification is made determining you are unable to get DTV service where you live (based on satellite positioning or living in an apartment building) you will not be granted access to the anything this deal offers. Again…buyer beware unless the language of the terms is altered
Make sure you guys read the fine print:
From someone who called them:
There's been a ton of debate about this on fatwallet and elsewhere and the consensus has been that it will work. I was extremely dubious myself, but since I actually can't get DirecTV I'm not expecting a fight.
Little tip to help some of you. Ive been an NFL package subscriber for several years and every year I call and let them know its too expensive and I'm going to have to cancel. They cut $100 every year. Try it. You will save some money.
... I'll be out of the country the entire month of September(maybe first week of October too), any one know if this will work oversees, or, they block the IPs outside US?
Before this year, I too have been getting Sunday ticket for free if I sign a one year contract. But I can't justify spending $100 a month just to watch football. So I cancelled this year.
Anyway my madden just shipped. I guess people won't be able to verify if it works until the season starts.
Oh, man. I just ordered this and I can get DirecTV but I can't because when I redid my roof they told me my warranty would be voided if I put a satellite dish up there and there is really no other way to do it. I am not voiding a warranty on a roof that cost us so much money.
For example the NFL has allowed people outside of the US to get NFL games via the Internet for a couple of years now for a low price (about $100 a year), but have never offered that to people in the US.
If it doesn't work then I am the proud owner of a Madden game for Xbox when I do not even own an Xbox.
I had a similar situation on my old house. The guy that installs the dishes for DirecTV said "no problem" and attached the dish to the side of the house, with metal bracing up under the eaves. It worked great, wasn't attached to the roof and got the job done just ducky.
DirecTV will send a guy to your house to discuss installation with no charge to you for the house call. At least, they did for me when I enquired about my situation.
