Snaps for young guys

Playing good football players wins games. Playing JAGs off the street does not. Besides winning is not the primary objective at this point. Bill has all but said so.
This team is 3 plays away from being 6-2. Winning is always the primary objective and you are full of crap to say belichick said it isn’t.
Purposely turning 53+ players into purposeful losers destroys a franchise. Again, you can’t have played competitive teams sports if you think losing is positive.

Almost every game is 3 plays away from some different outcome so that, as always, is nonsense. You are what your record says you are and right now our record says we are third in our division. I didn't say to lose games on purpose. I said winning is no longer the primary objective. Identifying roles for players you invested draft picks on is now what is important. See who fits and see who doesn't so you have an idea for when winning starts to matter again.

Hall has 20-25 pounds on Uche. Did you really want Uche playing ILB at 210-215?

Don't knock Myles Bryant. This kid is going to be another in a long line of UDFAs that play regularly for us at CB.

Of course I'd like to see Uche on the field more, but you need to recognize he is a bit of a specialist. He was considered one of the top, if not THE top, player at the Senior Bowl. Yet, he was only used in special situations at Michigan. The guy is a pass rusher. He was not in there on rushing downs at Michigan.

Josh Uche was 241 lbs. at the combine. It takes 1 minute to Google that and look at the Combine results which are independently controlled so they are dependable (no fudging). How you got 210-215 is a mystery. Posters write you off as undependable when you can not take a minute to confirm your data.

also we could really use his speed at ILB and it seems that he can tackle in space..tough i would like to see him sometimes as a pass rusher as well

I honestly think bill doesn't care if rookies play offensive or defensive snaps as long as they can play special teams.... Bill's obsession with special teams is another factor that ****s up his draft...."let me take this div 2 safety in the first round ..he can return kicks and punta in a pinch"...

While not being his ideal spot Uche is big enough to play there if needed. We need speed. We need a pass rush. We’re not going to get these things from guys who are 5 minutes away from working at Jimmy’s Car Wash. Same with Duggar. I don’t care who’s snaps he takes at this point. Get him some in Adrian Phillips role so maybe he can make it out of this season alive. Take McCourty’s reps. Hell, take Bentley’s for all I care. Just get these young guys on the field when the games don’t matter so that when they do they have their feet wet.

The major red flag I noticed on draft day for Dugger was most of his highlights were him taking kick/punt returns, not to mention him coming from a D2 school. If you're going to take another damn S in the 2nd round, Winfield Jr. or Chinn were the obvious choices and are both very productive. There's nothing from Dugger thus far that tells us he has promise and it looks like another embarrassing pick.

And there's no reason Uche and Jennings should be hiding behind Simon, Calhoun and now Hall (who comes out f***ing nowhere to take snaps away).

I did Google it. And in fact, one site listed him at 215. The NFL in fact lists him at 226. Does that mean you are undependable? I think it does: Josh Uche Stats, News and Video - LB | NFL.com

My point about Uche still stands though. At Michigan, he did not get a lot of snaps.

You can pull any stat you like off the Internet to support any argument you want to make - that does not establish credibility. The NFL holds a Combine to independently measure and record various recent statistics on players. Ignoring the Combine measurements to pull the stats off the Internet to support your argument is not going to fool anyone. If you do not understand the purpose of the Combine than you might want to read about it. Posting Internet stats does not instill confidence in your arguments.

Uche was asked last week, and he said he's 245-248 pounds.

You also need to get guys experience in meaningful games. You have to be willing to sacrifice some efficiency in order to develop for the future.

Bb’s pattern matching cover 3 defense demands a ton of communication and correct calls.

given the lack of normalcy this year, it is hard to imagine a rookie being able to keep everybody lined up properly.

especially a rookie that never played regularly in college.

I went to the NFL.com site. It says 226. If you're going to lecture me then acknowledge it's 226 on the league site. It's not an internet stat. It's the NFL league website.

I at least can admit I can be wrong, but if you're going to be a jackass then acknowledge that there's differential information including from an official site, and it's easy to make the mistake if the NFL is also making it. IT IS THE NFL. Don't need a lecture from you.

OK. Sorry if you felt lectured.

Duggar was also a 23 year old playing against kids in Div 2, he is clearly out of his league in the NFL and a truely putrid draft pick! How many times is BB going to try and draft a Safety and fail? Duggar will be out of the NFL before his rookie deal expires.

And drafted a D2 safety above Winfield jr who looks like a future pro bowler, who played at an elite level in a great D1 conference.

Copy/paste:

It's a reloading year, a teaching year, a year to clear cap and prepare for 2021.

Winovich is a good example of what is really happening this year... for those wondering if BB is tanking or trying. Winovich is one of their best young defenders, but with an emphasis on young, bad habits against the run started to creep in and he had some costly penalties as well. BB sent him back to the bench to realize that a less talented player who did the right thing would play over him until he learned that the right way was the only way to do things.

Was BB tanking by not playing Winovich?

No is the answer, he was doing what was best for the team and player longterm by teaching him how to do his job. Winovich looked great against the run again last night. The LB'ers, the TE's, the Safeties... all these young draft picks need to learn how to do their jobs. And if an UDFA jag does the job more technically and fundamentally sound, even if they're not nearly as good an athlete, then BB will play the better player. He's not doing this team or the player any favors by coddling them or telling them they'll get it right the next time. This is exactly what coaching is. The team won't improve by tanking, they won't improve by playing talented but inexperienced players, they will improve by improving their level of play and execution.

The sooner you accept this and that this was always a reloading year, the happier you will be.

They're going to incur some tough losses over the next few weeks, learn to root for the young players to learn and play better, hope to see them in the lineup by season's end and contributing, hope to see the team string together some good performances at the end of the season. If you sit there and scream how the young guys are busts or suck and BB is terrible at his job because he's not winning with a bunch of 22 year olds you're going to be sadly disappointed... more than you already are.

There is no winning this season, there is only improving. Young players will play when they prove they can do their job correctly, consistently and at a high level.
