Robert Kraft defends Roger Goodell: "The way he has handled this situation is excellent"

I am wondering if the carrot under Kraft's nose isn't some kind of cap related promise with respect to AHern. If they waive the cap for Rice, they might retroactively waive the AHern cap as well and roll it forward.
It would seem that the New England Patriots would have to win a civil suit in a court of law.

Not trying to put words in your mouth at all, and I'm sorry you feel that way. Just suggesting that Kraft being Goodell's apologist only lends credibility to those who feel that he is in Goodell's pocket.
On that we are in agreement.

TMZ is a celebrity news program with resources and skills you cannot imagine. They have a whole network of people they bribe to provide video, police reports, hospital reports, etc. They have broken many stories well in advance of the mainstream media. The NFL is a sports league.

Why anyone thinks a sports league should do a better job of investigative journalism than a group of professional investigative journalists is beyond me.

1. Anyone with any sort of security background, hopefully including those hired by the NFL, knows that casino elevators have video monitoring.
2. Anyone with any sort of legal background, hopefully including those hired by the NFL, knows that Rices' attorney must have received a copy of that elevator video as part of the discovery process.
3. Why didn't the NFL and/or the Ravens demand that Rice instruct his lawyer to turn over the video as a condition for further employment.
4. Willful ignorance or incompetence?

So let me get this right. During the rule gate scandal all we heard was crickets and now he comes in support for this guy. It proves that roger is nothing but a stooge for owners like him.

Disappointing Mr kraft. Just shut up and stay away like other owners.

Re: 1, hell, anyone who's ever ridden an elevator knows that. Elevator cameras aren't exactly hidden. Plus there's usually signage in the elevator telling you that you're being taped.

Goodell, who himself is a lawyer, must know this.

To add even more to this FUBAR, is their excuse that they asked law enforcement for any video evidence and were denied. Well no ****. As lawyers, they must have known that law enforcement cannot disclose any evidence at all during an ongoing investigation. Unless you are, of course, the defense attorney.

The level of incompetence is crazy. Someone watching enough CSI would have done a better job of investigating this entire matter.

C'mon guys. Stop ****yfooting around about the elevator video.
Call it what it is...deliberately contrived willful ignorance in not doing the due diligence obtaining the tape.
Goodell's front office twisted themselves into pretzels trying to minimize the hit on the Ravens with the 2 week suspension. We know they were fully behind celebrating the Ravens' Ray Lewis, who was an accessory after the fact in a murder.

In keeping with his excuse theme, Roger will probably say that, instea dof taking elevators he walks the stairs when out and about running errands on behalf of the owners and during his personal time away from home.
Bob Kraft woke up stupid this morning and proceeded to step into a totally avoidable pile of crap. He should have STFU'd. What exactly is it that the video showed us that we didn't know before? NFL, and now Kraft, are craven.

..... or he hit the bottle too soon.

Question for the lawyers on this board (you dirty scumbags ;)): How does Ray Rice not have a legitimate legal complaint against the Ravens and the NFL for how it has handled his employment status? I'm not defending his crime, but he reportedly DID tell them precisely what happened in the elevator, and the league office DID hand down discipline. Nothing has changed except for the new video confirming what Rice supposedly told them.
My guess is that they made a simple assessment that the continued hit to the NFL brand and to its fleeting hopes to attract more women viewers was far greater than the cost of litigating Rice's contract, should it ever come down to that.

Or, to put it in technical, legal jargon, the NFL decided to say to Rice and the NFLPA, "You don't like it? So, sue me."

slight correction,Condon...Goodell is NOT a lawyer. He's a C average graduate of a business school in Pennsylvania. That's it. The rest of his history is pure good ol' rich boy networking.

Here is the family occupation history of his family starting with his father and including his brothers.
http://www.cnbc.com/id/101366081#.

He has brothers who are lawyers but HE is what HE is...here it is excerpted..

A jock who attended Washington & Jefferson College, he joined the NFL in 1982 as an administrative intern and worked his way to the top.

He was actually chosen over an accomplished lawyer when the owners selected Tags successor and NOW we know exactly why, the perfect cat's paw...young,dumb and full of stupid.

Why on earth did Kraft have to open his mouth on this? Have any other owners said anything? Is it because he is the most powerful? It looks awful, really really bad. If I'm a fan of some other team who thinks the Spygate punishment was too light and it was all a coverup, Bob Kraft saying that this disaster of epic proportions was excellently handled just looks like Kraft protecting Goodell because of the "favor" he presumably owes him after Spygate. Because based on what Goodell's bumbling did then, Kraft should loathe the guy. But he clearly doesn't. He's not even neutral. And after something like this? Why????

Thanks. I thought he was also a lawyer prior to becoming the commish.

Pretty sure that Goodell is not a lawyer. His first job out of college (undergrad) was as an intern in the NFL office. He has no advanced degree and he has never worked anywhere else.

Payback for phoning up the officials during the Jets game last year and getting them to call a "pushing" penalty, when it was a certainty that his Jets were going to lose.

Here's why Goodell should be fired by the owners.

Goody's job is to increase NFL revenue by expanding the market, increasing public interest, etc.
His total ineptitude in this RR affair has negated all the pink ribbon propaganda that the league issues each fall as it seeks to attract female viewers to expand its advertising and merchandise revenue. Goodell has COST the owners millions, likely TENS of millions by mis-handling this situation not once, not twice but time after time making the wrong call, the late call and now a possibly litigious call that will cost the league once social media moves on and RR wins a big money lawsuit against the league (NOT the Ravens) for improper, targeted special punishment outside the league's guidelines.

I hope Goodells' incompetence costs Kraft and the other revenue obsessed owners big money.
They deserve it for propping up a toadie without talent who rode the wave of NFL popularity.

Much as I agree Pissah it is never going to happen, Bob Kraft is the canary in the coal mine for the owners, the moment he came out to publicly support Goodell was the moment that any possibility of Goodell being forced out ended. Unless someone comes out with absolute proof that he watched the video and lied about there is no way the owners take any action against him. They are going to try to change the topic, distract the pubic and weather this out.
