I dont think he goes...its a freakin mess there ......
Not sure why he'd want this.
If he waits one more year with us, continues to progress, and who knows hopefully wins a SB he'll probably have far better opportunities.
Actually, it's more of a mess in Ohio. There have been no sanctions against Penn St. The parties involved have all been fired. Another exodus of former coaches will take place when the next head coach takes over. The mess is no longer in the program, it's in the court system.
I for one am hoping that he get's the PSU job. I know that I'm in the minority, however I don't think BOB is a very good OC and I'd prefer that we make a change.
What? Ohio State just got one bowl game. This child rape abuse scandal is 100X worse than what happened at Ohio State.
All Ohio State got was one bad season this year, 2010 season vacated and a 2012 bowl ban. They also upgraded their HC.
Penn St has the NCAA, Big 10, Federal Government, State government and the school investigating. Joe Pa's legacy is forever tarnished. His name was removed from the Big 10 title trophy.

Agreed....As a Buckeye fan, I hope he takes the job.
As a Patriot fan, even though I prefer Weis, then McD to BoB, I hope he doesn't take the job. That school will be facing a LOIC charge. Could get 2-3 years of being banned from playing bowl games or at least close down.
Not sure why the heck he would want that job.

The conspiracy within the school president, the AD, and the HC to hide the 2002 incident makes it a NCAA matter b/c it happened in a football program.Child rape is worse but it's not actionable by the NCAA.
The guy doing the raping was not a coach.
Maybe but the NCAA requires less. They do what they want. As evident w. the Ohio State case where, previously, a program slapped with a failure to monitor charge, never got a bowl ban. Ohio State did. UConn got the same charge last year, no post season ban.The two guys that are charged with perjury are going to win their cases.
So what is the NCAA going to fine them for? All the people in the athletic program reported the incident up the chain of command to the person in charge of university police.
Who cares what he got fired for?Paterno was fired not for keeping it a secret but for not doing enough.
NCAA won't do anything to Joe Pa. They will however will be placing some sort of sanctions, whether if it's probation, sanctions or banning the football program for 1-2 years.he NCAA doesn't have anything to bag him on since he followed his institutional responsibilities. It's his moral stature that's in question, not his legal decisions. The NCAA doesn't judge your moral decisions when you've followed protocol.
First off, Ohio got more than "just one bowl game." In addition to not being eligible for Bowl games for the 2012 season, they lost several scholarships and are on probation for the next 3 years. So they will be under the microscope, big time. And the Bowl ban could affect players who have verbally committed to Ohio St.
As was pointed out, there will be no sanctions by the NCAA or the Big 10 because all the parties involved have been fired. Any investigation will not involve Penn St. going forward except in name only since Joe Pa said that the buck stopped with him. So, I don't see how you think the situation is worse for Penn St.

Hiding it and covering it up might and will make it a LOIC charge.
He was a former coach with the program. He was still getting paid (pension).
He was allowed access to the program, the weight rooms etc-Also the shower room where the rape occurred.

He like Jim Tressel, hid the truth to protect his legacy and the program.
The board of trustees for years wanted to force Joe Pa to retire. Joe PA did not want to. When the case hit the fan, he chose to subvert the Board by retiring at the end of the season. The board chose to fire him the same day.

The NCAA has no jurisdiction to place sanctions for that since none of their rules were violated. Not sure how you think that is the case.
Like I said, the NCAA is unpredictable. Just a year before, UCONN got slapped with LTM charge. For a charge like that, a school never got a post season ban previously. Ohio State got LOM charge and got a bowl game ban.
They say Mangini is a candidate for the head coaching position too.
To me he makes the most sense.
The whole reason Penn State is in this mess is because they didn't have coaches willing to blow the whistle on each other.
Everyone knows that Mangini has no such qualms.
