Givens had 9 catches in 12 games his rookie season, and 34 in 13 the next before catching 50+ balls his last two seasons in NE.
Jabar Gaffney is another example. He caught 11 passes his first season in NE before 30+ his last two, including some big playoff games.
But for the most part, you're right. Guys generally click with Brady. But lets not forget that while Tate may have been the #3 WR, he was really the 6th option in the passing game behind Wes, Twiggy, the TEs and Woody. In that context, 24 catches for 432 yards and 3 TDs is pretty decent.
The Colts led the league in passing yards. Their #6 target was Blair White, who caught 36 passes for 355 yards and 5 TDs.
The Chargers were 2nd in passing yards. Their #6 target was Legedu Naanee, who caught 23 passes for 371 yards and 1 TD.
The Saints were 3rd in passing yards. Their #6 target was Devery Henderson, who caught 34 passes for 464 yards and 1 TD.
So Tate's production wasn't really that poor considering his role in the passing game. He obviously struggled at times, but I'm not ready to give up on him just yet.
