Steve Belichick interviewing for College Job

Looks like Steve Belichick is looking for greener pastures in the pac-north west...

interviewing for Jedd Fisch's team out there...

and it liiks like Vinnie Sunseri has entered the interview circuit as well

I thought Vinnie did an alright job with the backs...

and the handwriting was on the wall for Steve Belichick once the rumors of Covington for DC started spreading... was never even a whisper of him taking the DC role over... Hate to lose that much experience, but it was inevitable...
As much as it stinks to loose a great coach, we knew this was the likely scenario. Didn't the organization offer him an Asst. Coaching role? Guess it would be kinda odd with Sr. Not there. Anyway I wish SB continued Success he's a great coach. Yeah sunseri went for a defensive coaching job ?

Agreed!

That was on point. Then you kinda got weird in the end...
You're #1 in the Casino w/ 3 others on your tail. Good luck in the SB.

Even though it is a loss of a good football mind, SB leaving is the best for him and the team. As others have stated, he needs to prove himself on his own for his career development. The team needs to start from scratch, bottom out and jell as a coaching staff. It is impossible for SB to put his personal feelings for his father aside. Additionally, his presence would make it harder for other coaches to turn the page. Better to start over now.

Yes I did because Bill led this team to the toilet. I've been criticizing Bill for all of his bone headed decisions these past few years. I mentioned to @RobertWeathers as early as the summer of '22 my take on his age being a factor in not being able to reach the younger players. I've mentioned my dislike of nepotisim and gave my reasons.

None of the above equates to hate. It is simply observing, reading, analyzing and drawing a conclusion of the realities in front of me. As it turns out, all of my takes turned out to be accurate.

You and your ilk were the opposite. Members of Team Bill that defended all of his actions. You guys were emotionally invested in the man based on his past success. You were blinded by your emotions and called out anyone with valid criticisms as agenda driven haters. Well, you were all wrong. About everything.

Now you pout and whine about everything. Kraft is a meany. Kraft is cheap. Mayo sucks, should've hired Vrabel. AvP sucks, should've hired McVay. Blah, blah, blah.

You continue to be emotional and have become haters of all things post-Belichick. It's quite amusing.

I'm supporting Mayo and his staff. If they start making bone headed decisions, I'll criticize them. For example, if Mayo decides to start Mac as QB1, I'll go nuclear on his ass because I don't get emotionally invested in other men like you guys do.

What a load of B.S. Let's get a few things straight here, muchacha: "Team Bill" is nothing more than your vehicle for dumping on the man because he let Brady go. I have absolutely no idea what it means beyond that. I never, EVER considered Belichick infallible or defended the indefensible regarding his many personnel gaffes -- both with players and his coaching staff. I was the first to call him out via thread on the Patricia/Judge fiasco. I NEVER have labeled Kraft a "meany" or "cheap." I PRAISED the hiring of Van Pelt. I NEVER said Mayo sucks, I'm 100-percent behind him after hoping for Vrabel early on.

The above is in my posting history for all to see. It would help your meager credibility to actually READ someone's posts before spewing unhinged accusations. It just makes you look childishly knee-jerk and quite far from "objective analytical observer" .

I've said it a hundred times on these pages: BB had to go, his program no longer worked in New England. That DOES NOT mean he deserves being incessantly belittled by you via multiple threads and hundreds of posts furthering a grudge-driven agenda. You HATE the man and do not respect his legacy. It is what you have articulated here time and again, there is no denying it.

I'm denying it. Look at my posting history from 2015 to 2020 and let me know how many posts you find proving that I hate the man.

Fact is that from 2020 on, he sucked ass. That is absolutely open to criticism. I really don't care what you think since you have zero credibility. All of your takes have been wrong these past few seasons, from Mac to Bill. You only begrudgingly accepted your mistakes half way through this season (or even latter). I've yet to see you eat some crow, which is what men do when they're wrong. Others have, you refuse to do so.

the role offered to Steve & Brian Belichick was never defined, just that they were offered a place on the staff...

Imo, now that nothing has hit the rumor mill, that it was most likely as a position coach... a kinda demotion for Steve, and the same for Brian... I have nothing to base that on besides conjecture, basically its a wag (wild ass guess)

Sunseri's willingness to go back to the defensive side of the ball is not too surprising, considering he played safety in the NFL, and first broke into the coaching ranks in New England as a "defensive assistant."...

and, pet peeve... lose not loose

Who really gives a ****? To them it's the family business. Kid probably knew more about X's and O's as a freshman in high school than 99% of this board.

Give me the kid who grew up in it and earned his chops the same way every other young coach did under his dad. How they got there is irrelevant what did they do with it?

I heard DeOssie talk about this one day. He said he sat down in the stands with him when he was 12-13 years old and he already knew more about defensive schemes than he did. I think he’s a good young coach who is only going to get better. He’s smart to go get a job with no connection to his father and build a reputation on his own. And even if Bill gets a HC job next season I think Stephen should stay out on his own, instead of returning to the family business.

good play caller... will be a net loss for the team if he leaves... but if he does go, the reason why is understandable

Like the team the coaching staff will need to learn and grow together.

Hopefully there won't be too many changes on the defensive side of the ball... and considering Defense is the strong point of Mayo's coaching game, I expect a relatively trouble free transition for DC DeMarcus Covington... Be interesting to see who they tap for DL coach, and more importantly, to me anyways, that we keep Mike Pellegrino here to run the CBs/DBs if BB the Second [Brian, the safeties coach] decides to leave...

The point is well established: your ongoing evisceration of Belichick's ENTIRE CAREER began because/after Brady left and continues to this day. Most remarkable about this is how heavily you've piled on since he was fired. Just mind boggling.

OF COURSE he was open to criticism, that's not the issue. You can try diverting to unsubstantiated (made-up) claims about my alleged "takes," needing to "eat some crow," etc. but that doesn't help you. Hopefully sometime real soon you'll drop this anti-BB hate campaign and join myself and others toward rooting for success in the new regime. That poor little Venecol fella needs to put BB boogeyman in the rearview mirror.

I thought he did well at his jobs with the Patriots, regardless of his last name.

It is a challenging position to be in with his Dad being fired. If Bill spoke openly with his sons, they knew his story.

I wish him the best with whatever move he makes for himself, It's a difficult position to be in.

I wish them both well. They are a victim of a situation they had nothing to do with.

Good Luck, Guys

I think the point being; regardless of your position on Bill, your relentless rehash of him is simply annoying and often feels shoehorned into each post you can make.

I like most of the stuff you post, but the constant droning of Bill has gotten a lil old.

I've tempered it down. Honestly most of those were to trigger a few posters here (they know who they are). My job is done. Moving on.

I always get that confused to loose or lose lol.. but it's very interesting to say the least. I saw it was an offer to stay in the organization like you did. But you could be right it probably was a demoted role especially with interviews being held for DC.

Your a cool ass poster and your material is sensible, and on point. I get that not every poster will agree on certain topics. Hence we are all patriots fans, and we all have thoughts, feelings and wants for our team. I happen to feel the same way towards Bill that you Do. I no way that that diminish him as the coach and what he meant for us. Yes, we have moved on but we are stuck with this roster he constructed and have to find a way to get it back to contention.

Young man should have done this a couple of years ago. Hitting the college ranks is perfect. He needs breadth of experience and network. I hope we lose track of him for a few years and he pops up as an NFL D Coordinator and surprises us all. Getting your entire professional resume and knowledge base working for your Dad requires some extra work.

I hope that Mayo and Covington bring in a couple of defensive assistants from the outside just to get the insight that new people bring. There are always small things that players are doing to reduce their effectiveness that coaches miss, at a minimum. This helps create some space to do that.
