Ya know, as a pass breakup that would have been a pretty good play.
As an INT, it's amazing. Every bit of his anticipation was needed to make that into an INT.
No lie.
Coach Carroll's Call was perfect.
We were locked and loaded for Lynch.
If we didn't happen to have NFD ~ NostraPhuckinDamus, for those scoring at Home ~ On Line for The Greatest Play In The History of FootBall, The Greatest Dynasty Ever would now be 3-3 in Super Bowls.
...And there'd actually be legitimate debate as to whether it was The Greatest Dynasty Ever.
There is so much to love about that interception.
One of them is how utterly owned Lockette was on that play.
Thrown through the air, his pass picked off and he even lands with his back to it all. You can tell he's just kneeling there, bewildered and asking "What just happened? What's going on?"
Best yet is a befuddled Wilson going up to Petey saying, "What happened?"
Petey, "He jumped the route"
Fokkin A he did!
B, C & D too!
Right???
And it's not as if these were the Spotsylvania Spuds we beat.
These were ~ were ~ the Ascending SuperStars of the 21st Century, who'd just authored ~ to our general Amusement and Pleasure ~ the most dominant Super Bowl Victory in History*, a Year ago.
*Allowing for Salary Cap Points, which takes into account the fact the the greatest previous Defenestration, 55-10 in 1989 by the San FranCisco Miners over ~ who? oh, yes: The BRONCOS ~ was perpetrated in the Pre Salary Cap Era, when Hoarding Was Legal. In 1989 Dollars, the SeaBugs won 126-10, last Year.
...And LOST ~ what??? ~ 28-24, THIS Year.
