Almost seemed proud of the fact that he didn't wear one and didn't need to.pats-blue said:It is HIS choice but how he came out about it and his non chalance about it irked me he could have handled it better.
My uncle died on a donorcycle, WITH a helmet on, cops estimated going only 35 mph. My point is, if I'm paying a kid millions to be my franchise QB, helmet or no helmet, there's no way I let him ride. No friggin' way. And if the kid's dumb enough to ride without a helmet, I'm questioning whether he's got the smarts to be my franchise QB in the first place.pats-blue said:I've seen many accidents where people have DIED that would have probably walked away if they had a helmet...not to mention those that lived with terrible scars or injuries that a helmet would have prevented.
Holy crap. Clearly a dum bass. All Steelers hating aside, I hope he's o.k.Mainefan said:No details, except that he wasn't wearing a helmet. Police have closed off the bridge on which he was driving.

The car, which has Maine license plates, was turning left onto the 10th Street Bridge from Second Avenue and Roethlisberger was driving straight on Second and apparently was not looking when he collided with the car, police said.

I agree with everyone else that it was damn stupid to be riding a motorcycle and even dumber to be doing it without a helmet.
As the guys on the radio were saying, it is one thing to act like your are industructible on the football field, but it is dumber then hell to take it with you out on the road.
dryheat44 said:The Update from PFT, read the last paragraph closely:
All parties remain tight-lipped regarding the condition of Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who is being treated at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh after being involved in a motorcycle accident at 11:37 a.m. on Monday.
Per WTAE-TV, Steelers chairman Dan Rooney is on his way to the hospital. Teammate Charlie Batch is already at the facility, but has declined to comment.
Team spokesman Dave Lockett told WTAE that he'll defer comment to a specialist, who is expected to address the media by 1:30 p.m.
The most ominous aspect of the story, in our view, is that the matter has been assigned to the homicide department of the Pittsburgh police, which happens whenever (as a police spokesman told WTAE) there's an accident involving "critical" injuries.
