I would have smashed it against the wall in front of Ted Wells and wiped my ass with his request. Because F*** Ted Wells.I want to know the rest of this story? Would you destroy your phone if Wells had let you know he'd ask for it? Would you destroy it with seeking the advice of counsel? Would you destroy your phone if NO incriminating evidence was on it, considering how bad the optics would look?
I wouldn't. I'd turn it over to my attorney, lock it in a safety deposit box, put it away somewhere. It just looks bad.
I felt the same way after the Wells Report first came out, but after a few days discovered how one sided it was. If this were true as Goodell implies (Brady destroyed the phone after knowing it would be requested), why would they have waited 35 days to issue a ruling? That doesn't make any sense either, unless this was the stick Goodell was going to use to get Brady to take two games in exchange for no lawsuit. I'm going to wait and see how this all plays out.
That's obviously not great advice, but I would say it's at least a common and understandable reaction when dealing with an a**hole and instead of indicating guilt merely indicates that Brady either didn't care, OR correctly identified that Wells is an a**hole.
