McCourty and other injuries update thread

Some informed speculation here:

Rob Gronkowski returned to catch a touchdown pass when just two weeks ago most initially thought his season was over. Gronk has his knee brace back on and will likely keep it on for the remainder of the season.

Danny Ammendola (sic) appeared more fluid as he plays his way out of his presumed PCL sprain.

Julian Edelman practiced late last week. Although I doubt he is on the verge of playing, it still is a good sign of progress. I still anticipate the recovery to be 6-8 weeks, especially with his cutting and underneath route.

Devin McCourty hopes to escape major injury. By video, it seems to be a mild high ankle type sprain. The position of his foot and leg save him as he is rolled up on from behind.

LeGarrett Blount appears to have a posterior hip injury. By video, there is no indication for major trauma and hopefully it just involves a muscle injury.

Dominque Easley seemed to have a quad strain by video. A thigh injury was confirmed and he tried to keep it loose on the stationary bike. Although the injury may be mild, it may affect him some moving forward. The quad is vital for his bull rush and holding his ground.

Any chance Edelman comes back before the playoffs? His injury was 11/15, surgery next day, and if it is a 6-8 week recovery, 6 weeks would be 12/27 (week 16). I doubt they would let him play before playoffs though (remember Gronk last year).

"Informed speculation" sounds exactly right! :)

I think it's possible he's back for the Jets game.

I thought it was time to let you guys in on a secret:

none of them are hurt.....they are sizing up the depth chart for the playoff run

the 2 fiascoes against the broncos and the eagles was BB just waking up the team in a manner similar to the chiefs last year......each week now, they will be stronger than the last.....with mayo making strides, it will align with the return of hightower and the LB unit will in peak form for the playoffs

the whole collins disease thing was just a ruse...he was on a regimen to lose a few lbs and gain additional speed......which will complement the size of hightower and the instincts of mayo very well

bolden is getting some touches for depth purposes and james white is also making some plays......his catch that was overturned was perfect......he is now going to play with zeal he probably didn't have before

mccourty is taking a breather so that harmon can get some more reps though I thought chung was a better choice for getting a week off......he's been playing great but is a bit dinged up

easley is taking a break because the pats are going to unleash their 'sweep the leg' move of putting branch and hicks out there together to blot out the sun for mariota who, unfortunately is going to soil himself on sunday.

the planets are lining up again.......and this time it is going to be the pats who destroy an undefeated season in the superbowl......and it's not going to be a shoulda coulda woulda moment saved by the bell.......it is going to be a reversal of fortune beating such as the bears put on the pats 30 years ago. Cam Newton will tortured relentlessly until with 5 min gone in the 3rd quarter, he will be curled up in the fetal position on the 50 yard line.....in slightly over one half of football he will have been reduced from a dancing fool to a blubbering tony eason

I just needed to get this out there in case anyone was wondering

10 of 16 runs for 1 yard or less. What's to be impressed with?

quite a few of those carries were being up 21 and everyone in the building knowing what the play was going to be.....

while 'impressed' might now be the word I would use, he's been previously effective in that stogap role......

With the way this season has gone I find myself noting injury-free milestones. Like last night I noted that the Pats were up 7-0 halfway through the 1st quarter, or that one-eighth of the game was over with no injuries.

I even find myself watching the clock early in the game hoping it keeps moving steadily, unlike the normal time to think that in the 4th quarter.

I can't be the only one.

I'd sign Knowshon Moreno if Blount's done.

He's still out there?? I would do it in a heart beat he hits the hole quicker than Blount anyway.

I was impressed with Bolden last night.

I was too and with more opportunities Bolden should get even better also he gives us a pass catching threat something Blount is not.

Rest him against the Tits and next week if need be. We won't need him to smack the Tits around and squeeze/put the clamps on them. I wouldn't mind seeing him play against the Jest though because:

1. I always enjoy watching them lose.

2. Watching the Pats officially end their season would be the icing on the cake.

You aren't.

I'm like a nervous parent who is waiting for their teenager to come home safely....

Oh, there were a few runs where he seemed to power his way for several yards more yards than it looked like he was going to get, is all I'm saying. I'm not saying he's Corey Dillon or anything.

I had no issue with his play......I always thought he had some powere and some pretty decent speed

Damn it. DMac's huge. I am sick of these injuries already. Nobody has been hit harder then this team.

Perhaps in numbers to impact players, but Cowboys, Broncos, Colts, Bengals, sometimes Steelers have lost their starting franchise QBs.

We have a healthy TB12

Bolden's issue is he seems to tiptoe up to the line and asks for directions rather than just hitting a hole or trying to make one. If he happens to bust it outside he's got speed and power at the second level but too often he just kind of walks up to the line and gets tackled. He's like a poor man's Blount, because Blount does the same damn thing.

Blount was the offensive starter they could most afford to lose, but you'd still like to find a running back who can plow forward for 3 or 4 yards if there's no hole. White looks fine as a third down back, and Lewis will be back next year, but they need a guy for these final few games. I know they looked at Knowshon Moreno a couple months ago, but I think the issues with Knowshon were off the field. Montee Ball's another guy they worked out, but he's terrible.

I've reached a point where I'm literally holding my breath nearly every time Gronk catches a pass. Anything up the seam for sure--his last catch yesterday I think I said "no" out loud...and it wasn't even a noteworthy/dangerous play in any way. It's ridiculous.
