Anyone Else Really Nervous?

I always said this when playing sports and I would argue it's the same for a fan; if you say you aren't nervous before any game, you're a liar.

I've heard this quote a few times thrown out:

"If you aren't nervous about your passion, you aren't passionate about it".

I personally think that's so true. I am nervous before every Patriots game. I have been watching my local Soccer team since before I could talk properly and at 24 years old I still get nervous before every game I attend. It will never change.

Brady himself has said the same thing...he's always nervous on game days.

IF we execute and don't make DUMB mistake, on paper at least, we should blow the doors off of these scums. There's no doubt who's the better team, and who should win this match-up. It all comes down to executions. Even if both team bring on their 'A' game, and both team execute, the Pats win this. We are simply the better team.

If we do end up losing, it's because we made some seriously dumb mistakes and didn't executed (dropped balls, missed overages, missed tackles, picks, wrong route-running, etc.).

Why should I be nervous? I have absolutely no control over what the players do. Sure, I now live vicariously through their accomplishments but that's not really a cause for nerves. I prefer to sit back and enjoy whatever may be.

I'll preface by saying I'm nervous before every single game. I really am. I'm usually more nervous when it's the Ravens. They are always confident when they come to Gillette. The thing that makes me feel better is the fact that our secondary is better than it's ever been. Flacco should not have it as easy as years past. I think that makes the difference.

I really think that NE will be fine in these playoffs barring some catastrophic "i" word to someone super important to the team. We weathered Mayo, Ridley, and Jones for six weeks. We've even weathered the O-Line shuffling. But we won't survive something to one of the big three, as all three of them have been discussed in MVP talks. That's how well all three played this season - DOMINANT. If they're good, even Seattle, though scary still, wouldn't scare me as much.

Excited is the word that I would describe before every Patriot game. And in the playoffs it's even more amped up.

I cannot wait for tomorrows game and I have been looking forward to it all week.
The Pats are rested and healthy.

tired of these chicken little threads. you win some and lose some. that's football. grow a pair.
Agreed (somewhat), but you don't live to fight another day when you lose in the playoffs. So I'd say that makes a thread like this one a bit different than the norm. This is win or go home. I really want a fourth SB for Brady and Co.

I don't really think this constitutes as a `chicken little` thread.

This is just being nervous that in single game elimination, stuff can go wrong.

Chicken little threads are "Oh, woe is us, we stand no chance, our team is bad and they're so good."

Why anybody would be nervous is beyond me. Are any of you nervous fans actually playing in the game?

As a Ravens fan, no I'm not. I feel the Ravens are playing with house money this time around. Didn't expect to get this far with all the BS the teams been through since the RR incident last summer. I think I speak for most Ravens fans. With that said I think it ill be a good game that can go either way.

I'm nervous because following the Pats is pretty much the main thing I do for entertainment and I would hate for that to end tomorrow. Also I'm a huge ****y and I get nervous for every game. That being said, I never get nervous about anything that I'm doing. It's analogous to people that are afraid of flying saying they'd be more comfortable if they were the pilot.

Mostly though I'm nervous about freezing my nuts off at the game. I love those things.

I don't think you're nervous as much as you are excited. The butterflies are the same for both emotions. For instance, you probably don't take a diarrhea before each game. Not sure about you but, when I'm nervous, I **** all over the place. Poor toilet bowl.

No more nervous than any other Pats playoff game.

Welcome to the board. What's your guess for the final score?

Fans aren't allowed to feel any emotions now? Well, damn. I mean, it's just a game, right? None of this effects our own lives. There's no reason to feel happy if they win or feel bad if they lose, because it's not us playing, anyway. Who cares about sports. It's not making us any money.

Am I doing it right?

Straw man. Never said you weren't allowed to feel nervous. Who am I? Stalin? I just don't understand the nervous emotion before a game. Maybe that might just be me. I was always excited before a big game, whether it was football, hoops, or baseball. I honestly can't remember ever getting nervous.

Remind me not to hang around with you when you're nervous!

I'm definitely excited and definitely NOT ready for this season to end yet. It's been a fun one!

Just don't be around me before I have to do public speaking. I always take a nerves dump before those. And neither am I. But, then again, I think the Pats shut down the Ravens and win by two scores.
