Amendola?

He needs 24 receptions and 79 yards to top Amendola's career highs, I think the 79 yards is all but certain and the 24 receptions are extremely likely, so if Danny Amendola is worth $5 million I think the younger, bigger and more athletic Edelman would be as well.

You literally posted on the last page that you think the Patriots should jettison Amendola and sign Edelman for $2-3m. You need to pick a story and stick to it. Is he a $5m a year player, or is he a cheaper alternative to Amendola?

AJ I don't hate people I don't know and I don't know Danny Amendola, sorry to disappoint.
Semantics. Call it hate, obsession, a grudge, dislike, whatever you wish. You must have 1000 posts on this forum criticizing the guy

As for the rest I didn't say to remove them from his stat sheet, I only pointed out what he was if not for 2 plays in which he benefited greatly from blown coverage by the Steelers.

I know what you did, and it is silly. You can't judge a guy by saying the good plays don't count because you want to call them a defensive failure. He got open.
Your insistence on adding silliness to your posts just makes your argument look weaker and weaker.

I did say that - but if Amendola is worth $5 million on the market than Edelman will likely command the same or similar. What I think either player is worth doesn't matter I don't set the market, Welker and Amendola did last season so I would expect Edelman to be paid based on a similar market value.

Reche Caldwell had 61 receptions in 2006. Does that mean he was worth twice what he was every other year, or are there other factors?

I love Edelman as a player, he's versatile and smart. Is he suddenly a premier receiver in the NFL because the numbers say so, or is part of it because he knew how to run the routes for stretches when nobody else did? Brady is going to throw to someone.

Woodhead could have been re-signed as a wide out and BB would have saved a lot of money and gotten more production out of him.

Amendola is way overpaid for what he did so far.

Woodhead is a RB. Woodhead is 5'6". How many 5'6" WRs have you seen in the NFL?

To be clear, what you are saying is the market will evaluate Edelman at the same level of compensation as Welker (or Amendola) in 2013.

The fact that Amendola was overpaid with regard to 2013 production does not mean teams will pay Edelman $5M or $6M a year.

Is Welker 6'3?

I see Vareen being used as a wide out. I see Chargers using Woody exactly like I was talking about. He is doing well over there btw...

Vereen is a running back who is a fine receiver. The patriots preferred him in that role to Woodhead. Were the patriots wrong? Perhaps, perhaps not.

It certainly seems that Vereen is a much more potent receiving threat than Woodhead was/is.

Woodhead was one of my favorite Pats players. BB screwed that one up. He knows it too.

Re: Re: Amendola?

Similar to Welker... :coffee:

Welker's height 5086 and weight 195 Lbs. Woodhead's height 5075 and weight 197 Lbs. so they're very similar. Slot receivers do not usually post up their defenders anyway.

I like Vereen (sans the glass status), but, why not also use Woodhead as a hybrid player?

It doesn't matter now of course, but, Woodhead would have certainly helped this team out.

In hindsight we should have kept Welker and Woodhead, but no one knew the Hernandez drama. He might have been our biggest loss

If we could squish Woodhead, Edelman and TJ Moe into one player and stick him in the middle of the line that would have a much bigger impact on improving the team than worrying about which slot receiver type we use.

EDIT: and Boyce too. go for the Ted Washington combo.

Which one of them would play the move TE?

Woodhead is averaging a blistering 3.8 yards per carry and 7.9 yards per reception. His average drops to 3.14 yards per carry when you discount his 2 longest runs, which were the result of blown defenses. ;)

So being an inch shorter than the shortest WR you can find is proof of what? How about his lack of WR skills? Where do we account for that?
BB had 3 years to play Woodhead at WR and did not. (Nor have the Chargers for that matter)
He simply is not a WR.
