Broken Glass: Dowling to IR

The bigger problem here is not BB the coach it's BB the GM and the owner. This value baloney has given us exactly what? Its their reasoning for not wanting to sign certain players. I think we can all agree at this point Samuel non signing was a huge mistake the money and draft picks wasted trying to replace him is almost laughable. On draft day last year after the first round which i wasn't happy about trading the 2nd first round pick i was syked for day 2 with the 1st pick and when Dowling was picked I was shocked. He wasn't even in most drafts top 40, but here is the point since they last Super Bowl in 2004 they started changing the way they drafted and retaining players "value" was the word. There is something terribly wrong with the way we scout and develope defensive backs and wide recievers.

BTW, the ironic thing was I was watching the Oklahoma/Kansas game in the gym and Laton Dowling of Kansas got hit in the back of the leg and looks like he might have had a season ending injury too. Not a good day for Dowlings.

While thinking about the last twenty four hours I came to a conclusion.....

They are making room for Moss' return! Lmao jk jk

( I know they activated a couple of puppies was just kidding )

Ras was a mistake
Can't wait to see his change of direction next year after a tendon tear from his hip

Bodden must have nuked BB or another coach in a meeting to get his ticket punched out of town now. Timing was inexplicable

One injury to the remaining starters and Pats are toast against any decent offense.

Tomorrow should be very interesting

For better or for worse, BB does what he feels gives his team the best chance to win. He didn't cut Bodden for shiggles; he felt that—especially given that cutting him will not save the team any money—that cutting Bodden was the best possible option for the team. [If I had to guess, I'd say he was most afraid of the possibility of Bodden, who's apparently not starting anymore, becoming a locker-room cancer.]

Now that's not at all the same thing as saying he's right about that; Lord knows I think he botched the TE position in 2009, and didn't plan properly for getting rid of Sanders and Meriweather.

One thing I did forget was Bodden did seem to possibly wear out his welcome in Cleveland even while playing well. He had an incident at Cleveland airport in 2007 and eventhough he had six INTs that season he was traded the following offseason as part of the trade for Shaun Rogers. Maybe there was more there.

I don't understand. I really don't. So I'll not try to and just enjoy the season.

Moving forward, I hope BB refrains from wasting anymore top 90 draft picks on corners. Just sign em via free agency.

It's too early to label the guy a mistake. It is his rookie year. Not a good start, but there is no reason to not to believe he has the possibility to come back and be a productive member of the team.

I heard Jeff Howe of NECN today on 98.5 and he said that he did research on Dowling after he was drafted and his injury history has been overstated especially his high school career. He played 40 out of a possible 46 games in college.

In all my years as a Pats fan, its tough to think of a stranger feeling than knowing with our passing D ranked DEAD LAST in the NFL, we cut one cornerback, and IR his replacement a day later. Id love to somehow make sense of this. But I'll think all night on this and come up with nothing. God, I love my team.

Guys i just found the opponent game plan to against the Pats, i'll share it with you guys:

1. (X)Throw the ball
2. (X)Run when receivers are tired
3. (X)Repeat 1 and 2

:singing:

With guys coming off PUP roster spots have to be opened somewhere. Dowling seems like a no-brainer if he's hurt and I'm pretty sure that we don't know the real story behind Bodden. I'll just go on the assumption that neither of these guys was going to contribute so why keep them?

Will everyone still be upset if the the db's have a combined six picks off Big Ben tomorrow, two of them being returned for td's?

Bodden's loss makes our secondary weaker but Bodden was far from a HOT commodity.

If he was,he would have been picked up seconds by another needy team after hitting the waiver wire.

Teams even in need in the secondary don't feel it smart to sign Bodden.

I guess a lack of interest everywhere shows that Bodden is definately not a lost link to a title....only lost depth.

Wide receiver and cornerback are positions that require swagger. In alot of cases, it seems almost mandatory that the player not only possess an overabundance of confidence, but that they display that overabundance. Neither of which are really encouraged here with our team. Guys basically have to shut up and get in line here. At some point, our method of evaluating both of these positions really needs to evolve because its definitely not working currently.

I wonder what the best offer was for the first pick of the second round...

I have to agree with you since we lost those games to teams like Miami, San Diego and Ny Jets who have those 6' 5 receivers. Perhaps, you can spare yourself some agony by rooting for the teams with the tall receivers.

This team's current secondary is the same that had problems in the playoffs. We have worse safeties than last year .We have not improved . We beat the jets 45-3 regular season , we beat the raven's in the regular season, couple of weeks later in the playoffs what happened. Same will happen with the Chargers and jets. We will win our 12-14 games , but that's it

A 2nd rounder and possibly a 3rd from 2011 from the Raiders. That's what I heard from that clip during draft day.
Bill wanted a pick from 2012. Possibly a 1st round 2012.

Let's remember 2004. Scrubs galore in the secondary. Can Chung keep it all together back there like Rodney did?
