Did they win it all ?

Using that sort of ridiculous argument, the highest scoring offense in the league's history wouldn't be good enough to bring home a Lombardi. It's the difference between "does" and "can".

Do you like the defense ? Do they instil fear in the opponnent ?

The defense was top 5 last year and I expect it will be top 5 or top 10 again this season. That's more than sufficient.

Ok lets look at it then..the last 2 years the Pats had the lead and lost it on long drives with the game on the line that cost them 2 superbowls..is that the kind of defense you want plus a year older ?

Perhaps, it has to do with TB not in the field right now.

That first drive tonight with the first stringers, did it remind you of a certain drive by the Giants in the Superbowl..When was the last time we had a consistent 3 and out...?

Why do you people always pull the same tired arguments? 2 Years ago, half the defense was in sick bay. While I still consider that loss to be more on the defense than the offense, there were clearly issues that went well beyond the play level of that defense.

Last year, the defense held the opponent to fewer than 20 points. The defense wasn't the problem: the offense was.

I have no problem with this year's defense as of right now. Then again, I don't spend my days glancing upwards in fear that chunks of sky will begin falling.

Oh yea, we need to worry about our corner problem.

If we don't, we will see this kind of play in every game.

Sorry i call it like i see it, I dont make excuses for no passion that is so obvious that the play by play announcers noticed it...Hello

I watched the team who's offense scored only 14 points in the Super Bowl.

You watched a team with a lead in the superbowl with 3 mins left and a Giant team on their own 18 yard line..they went 82 yards down the field like the colts did a year before that and your gonna tell me they dont have a problem on D...?

I watched a team that only scored 14 points in the Super Bowl. Go take a look at how often Super Bowls were won with just 14 points for the winning team.

Nevermind, let me help.

One time, and ONLY ONE TIME, in NFL history, has a team won the Super Bowl while scoring only 14 points. That was all the way back in 1973. New York was the first team to score fewer than 20 points and win since 1975 (that would be more than 30 years).

Again.... the problem was the offense.

What ever makes you sleep at night..You give a team a lead with 3 mins left they are supposed to get the win..Especialy the almighty defensive genuis.BB

I know, facts be damned; you'll keep arguing your non-existent point. Watch for falling sky!

it was the red hoodie.....

It was alot of things guys...karma...lack of sleep....something in the air....it dosent matter at this point....16 days to the 08 season so lets just look forward to it....

The problem was lack of adjustment to the Giants defense. Look, that loss was terrible as it gets but giving up 17 points isn't bad at all. The Pats scored 30 on the Giants before, they didn't even score half of that this game. To say the defense is terrible, I don't even know what to tell you. Normally I'd say you have a right to your opinion, but this is why I HATE preseason. Chick littles *****, overly optimists say ridiculous things, etc.

I don't blame you for "calling it as you see it". But please do so to say it after the team has a string of losses solely based on defense problems. This board is either too optimistic or too pesimistic, some of you need a heavy dose of happy pills.

Your an apologist, you will accept what you think you see and justify it.There is no concise reasoning about the fact that the defense is not as good as the offense and you fail to see it because you refuse too..

I never claimed the defense was as good as the offense. The offense was historically prolific. It simply chose the wrong day to put up the fewest points of the season.

Look, your argument is silly for a host of reasons, and it has nothing to do with me being an 'apologist'. I don't know what part of "top 5", 14 points and the like you can't seem to grasp.
