The NFL is basically a criminal organization

I don't buy tickets and the jerseys I've bought have come straight from China, bypassing the NFL middleman and the rent they collect on their intellectual property. Doesn't matter either way. The NFL's big money dumps come from the networks, and the consumer, even in a 'swarm,' has absolutely no control over it. I'm rooting for the players to strike and will stand with them in solidarity if they do, because that's about the one thing that could actually change things.

Then according to that ridiculous NFL ad featuring Michael Irvin, you directly fund terrorism. Congrats!

Got my partner a very nice stitched women's Dion Lewis jersey from aliexpress for about $25, so worth it. I hope the terrorists appreciate my donation.

eSports is the future.

While I do agree that "eSports" are getting bigger, and will become a bigger part of our culture, it'll take a long time to replace real physical sports. The most basic reason (and sorry for my bluntness here): High school football players get laid; WoW griefers do not, even in tournament form....

Good for you. I don't care if it actually shows up on their eventual bottom line or not, they are not getting any more of my money.
You watch the games, right?

Then they're getting your money.

I'm not in a nealson household, so it wouldn't matter whether I do or don't. And, yes, I'm watching less and less with hopes of being football free soon.

They get my money? How much do you pay for network TV? Oh... right.

FBI needs to investigate them already.

Wish I could find my posts that most people just whistled right by last year. A no notice raid on the league offices in New York, and every team facility to include the NFLPA offices, would make any other criminal organization look like a kindergarten mafia. I wouldn't even put murder out of the question.

It's corrupt as all hell, and once an organization starts hiring goons (Troy Vincent) to make decisions, and play favorites with teams (NYJ), someone in the FBI should have perked up by now. Maybe the are and we just don't know it. Maybe this conccussion issue will be the trigger. Probably not though because, well, maybe the FBI is as corrupt as the NFL.

I'm not in a nealson household,
Statistical sampling these days goes quite a bit beyond simple Nielsen ratings. For you to sit there and say "oh I'm not a Nielsen family so I don't get counted" shows a lack of understanding the process.

You're just 1 person so obviously if you watch or not no one would notice. But if there were a million people like you who said "we are not Nielsen families so no one would notice if we watched or not" then that would be a fallacy.

You watch the games, therefore they get your attention and they make money off of that attention.

And yet the NFL brings in countless billions of dollars from those networks who broadcast over the air for free.

Gee, I wonder why.....

Yeah, you're right, people like me who enjoy both gaming and watching physical sports don't get married or have kids -- oh wait; we do! Everyone in my family and extended family not only plays video games, but we go to tournaments and events. We're fairly normal people with diverse hobbies, and one of them happens to be video games. Some of my relatives even works for Riot, which puts out League of Legends, the most played game in the world. eSports (no need for the quotation marks; it's a real thing) is here to stay, and I do think it will eventually surpass football, since it's an international experience.

For League alone, which made over 1.6 Billion dollars last year, they have multiple leagues (for North America, Europe, Korea, China, etc), with teams who have coaches, analysts, support staff, etc. The games regularly draw millions of viewers every single day, and they have announcers, play by play analysts, and highlight shows with breakdowns and interviews. Star players can make millions. It's as polished and well-produced as any football game I've seen, and it's only going to get bigger.

I'm hoping to last that long but I'm really getting sick of the NYJFL/BSPN cabal. There is little fun it it anymore so what's the point?

The reason I'm waiting to dump the NYJFL is in support of Tom Brady. He has earned every bit of that support, on and off the field.

I feel your pain. I've gotten to the point where I almost (please take note that I said almost) want to see TB12 go now so I don't have to put up with the garbage any longer.

I don't know about you, but I'm not a "fan" of Monsanto or Dow Chemicals or any of these other for-profit entities you're talking about. If I'm going to be a fan of something, I want it to have enough redeeming qualities so I don't feel like taking a shower every time I learn what they're actually doing.

When I was a kid I used to visit relatives in Everett near Monsanto. At times my eyes would be burning from the crap they put into the air. Looking at the problems with the Casino construction now, they must have stopped putting that crap into the air and started putting it into the ground and water instead.

How do I invest?

I've cancelled anything that puts money into the pockets of the NFL. The only exception was online stream Sunday ticket as I live in philly but even that was at a student rate. Never gonna pay full rate. I won't buy any more jerseys or paraphernalia. I won't watch any non-pats games. I'm enjoying the off season. I don't keep track of the draft or free agency and I have a lot more time to spend with my family. I get all my news from this site. Looking forward to us kicking the NFL's butt this coming season. I don't see any competition from the AFC if we're healthy.

eSports is the future.

I have two sons. One of them is an NFL fan but his fandom is waning. Both of them are avid video game fans.

I'm cutting back and will stop for good once TB is done. I'm doing what I can.

What are you doing?

"There is no oversight monitoring this mega industry. No SEC or EPA or FDA etc."

That's a good thing. Less government regulation is always a good thing.
