Chandler Jones Traded

We could trade for 29 or lower. Nothing above 29
It's a small point, but the NFL has stripped the highest Patriots first round pick. If you mean the 29th pick would be the highest, that makes sense.

Cooper could move to center ... Stork to compete for a guard spot ... is possible also

Cardinals were considering moving him back to center.

Excited by the chance to see if Jon Cooper will do something on this team. One of my biggest draft binkies over the years. Only OG I've scouted with feet as quick and good as Shaq Mason that I've scouted was Jonathan Cooper.. Hope he works out under Scar.

This post made me feel better. your draft posts and analyses are always pretty great.

I would love Harvin. He would do so well in our system. And his stock is so low he'd easily be had on a modest one-year deal. I'm sure he'll get hurt, but I'd just love him.
Get hurt. Get in a fight in the locker room. What have you...

"Why would a team essentially give away a player who is pervasively viewed as a unique talent?

NFL Media's Albert Breer reported that a large part of theSeahawks' motivation to trade Harvin stemmed from the receiver's inability to control his long-held anger management issues, according to two sources connected to the team.

The Times also reported, via a league source, that the "final straw" came in last Sunday's loss to theDallas Cowboys when Harvin balked at re-entering the game in the fourth quarter."

"Harvin, who signed with the Bills earlier this offseason, was named the NFL's most hated player in the locker room by Sports Illustrated this week"

Yeah, sounds like just what we need.

This draft is supposedly strong for defensive line and edge players which may have prompted the Patriots to part with Chandler Jones whilst they have Ninkovich and Sheard as incumbents along with possibly another FA on a decent contract, and Grissom, Flowers and Rufus Johnson in the wings.

Sheard will also be due an extension within the next two years along with Butler, Hightower, Collins and possibly Logan Ryan, Duron Harmon and contracts have been astronomical this offseason.

It is strong for DL players, but it is NOT strong for 4-3 EDGE players. In fact it's pretty weak.

Why wouldn't they just leave stork at center?

Is that an exaggeration? That's a pretty exciting statement, especially consider some posters have said he was projected to excel in the Patriot's scheme, whereas that's not what he was doing in Arizona.

I have no idea if he was evaluated as a best ever, but you generally don't see guards drafted that high.
of course, that was a few yrs ago, anyway, and he hasn't lived up to it.

here are the 1st round guards since 2000 --- as you can see, midround is pretty high + he went 7th

Yea but I think the best thing for NE is Stork 100% healthy at center with Scar coaching him.

Oh man. Well, nobody can say that the Pats offseason is boring now. There's your carrot!

As far as this trade goes, I think it's an absolute steal. Cooper was also projected to play C this year for AZ. So it provides interior OL versatility. I liked Jones for what he gave to the team during his tenure, but I was never really enamored with him. And as they say...

Yea, he didn't try coke, just go with it.
Its possible Chandler started to party more like his brother or the Patritots saw him as a risk for a mega contract after the transgression.
I find it incredibly interesting this happens after Bryant is suspended the season for pot.

Now cue the thats why Gordon wouldnt be a fit here crowd and you are more than likely correct.
On the other hand here is a man that has sat out 2 years and could now be inclined to grind for the sport he loves.
Especially after his unprecedented level of punishment.
Anyone think Goodell had a issue with tall talented athletes?

Would the Patriots pay a $1.7m roster bonus and keep a $4.6m cap slot for a swing tackle who didn't start?

First, Cooper is a guard. Second, it's a 2.34M cap slot, not a $2.6M cap slot. Third, Cooper did start last year, but lost the job to Ted Larsen..
