Brandon LaFell

Some ominous remarks from Bruschi today:
"I've got to think LaFell is running out of chances. How many running backs have you seen sitting on the bench when they don't have ball security? The same is true with WRs. I've heard Bill Belichick say this in meetings, 'Hey, receivers! You have two jobs -- one is to get open, the second is to catch the ball.'
Tedy Bruschi Implies Patriots WR Brandon LaFell Could Be on Thin Ice

He may be on thin ice....but given our depth at WR...nothing will happen until after this season
I would agree with the proviso that the receiving targets in the playoffs would likely feature Edelman, Gronk, Amendola, and possibly White (who emerged Sun as a reliable target) ahead of Lafell, which will not be the case Sunday. Also, Keshawn Martin is working his way back into the line up and I think he has has shown better separation (but not necessarily better hands) than LaFell. Finally, we just added Johnson and Williams and it remains to be seen how many targets they can pick up as they learn the plays and acclimate. So while I do not expect any major roster additions this year, there is still considerable uncertainty in how LaFell will be used. He will get snaps because he is big and can block. Ideally, he would become the reliable WR that we saw through much of last season, but, if not, there are some potential alternative targets.

I Hope Keshawn Martin gets better starting this week he understands our Offense and route concept he's in on alot of snaps now he just needs to secure the football. Martin's drops is not as blatant as stone hands LaFell.

Sometimes watching LaFell is frustrating.... Hands of putty..

:(

We need to find a burner this offseason.

That hasn't worked out too well with Taylor Price, Brandon Tate, Chad Jackson, and Bethel Johnson.

If you want to include speedy track star/Swiss army knife types, Jeff Demps is yet another player who many thought would've been able to split out and catch some balls.

We don't need a "burner," we need a bigger physical receiver who can pick up the playbook and execute his assignments. Anquan Boldin was regarded by many to be slow, but he'd have been great here in his heyday.

I really hope LaFell can rebound this season, because that Michael Crabtree extension ($35M/4yrs, $19M guaranteed) could be an indication that a LaFell replacement is going to be way out of the Pats' price range. Once he was integrated, 2014 LaFell produced pretty darn close to what 2015 Crabtree has done, but 2016 LaFell would cost about a third of Crabtree's new yearly average.

Torrey Smith would have been great here too, or Stevie Johnson

He was terrible in Carolina and he's terrible here. I hated this signing since the start. I really wish we could cut him.

Offensive depth needs to be the priority for next season. O-line, WRs, RBs that can catch. In that order
Too bad he had such a terrible season last year.

Rather than potentially wasting a pick on another JAG WR, I hope they trade a 4th for Josh Gordon.

He's a fan of Brady too.

They would catch it cleanly then even discount double catch Dobson.:D

If we get Josh Gordon our offense is unstoppable. He's a top 5 WR in the game and is an Antonio Brown impact player.

Gordon is one of those talents that is worth the risk.

4 rec 27 yards won't cut it. WR will be a top 2 need come the offseason.
