Brandon LaFell

Trying to catch an oblong shaped object whizzing at you at over 50 mph, while a number of men who weigh up to 50 lbs more than you charge your way with murder in their eyes, in front of 60,000 screaming people, with a million more watching you on TV... well, I can see why it's not always easy.
Yes, I'm sure it's not easy oh reasonable one.

Dude, that is telling the other team that we think so little of you that we are going to do some stupid trick play. I am from Philly and everyone was saying the exact same thing when it happened.

You mean like the Amendola to TFB pass?

I don't think its all on LaFell.

Overall, in the last 4 games Brady is completed ~50% of his throws.

The problem is global in nature
Tough to complete a high percentage of your throws when your receivers are dropping your passes at an alarming rate.

I'm not sure that your example fits too well here due to the difference of being down 14 (Brady trick play), and being up 14 (Ebner trick play).

No one's going to feel disrespected when you're throwing **** at the wall trying to make a comeback, but when you're up 14-0 and have had the momentum the entire time, it's a bit of a different story.

If done well it catches them off-guard and can be put the Pats in a stronger position, it wasn't done to insult them.

As long time NEP fans "we" know that, but there's a decent chance that the opposing players did not see it the same way. They seemed to have gotten their heads in the game after that, but who knows how much was simply coincidental?

Lafell has a great season and helps win a super bowl, then he comes back mid season from a foot injury without training camp and is inconsistent in his first few games, and there are people that call him a JAG and want to get rid of him. Like someone mentioned, people said the same thing about amendola last year.

I think LaFell at least earned himself some time to get his timing right and get into the flow. Calling him a JAG after his performance last year is pretty reactionary and low.
Beyond this, people need to realize that LaFell is a piece of the puzzle -- a role player, not a featured "go-to" WR the fantasy dweebs here want him to be. Edelman's absence and Dobson now on IR underscores that fact while placing added pressure on LaFell to be something he just simply is not. Give the guy a break. It's just as important for players like Martin and Johnson to step in and contribute while Edelman's out.

Also, for those damning LaFell for "quitting" on routes: maybe he did and maybe he didn't. Some of that could be miscommunication with Brady on what's expected in the course of route adjustments while reading coverages on the fly.

He was terrible in Carolina and he's terrible here. I hated this signing since the start. I really wish we could cut him.

Offensive depth needs to be the priority for next season. O-line, WRs, RBs that can catch. In that order

Brandon LaFell caught 87 balls and 9 touchdowns in our offense last year, so while you may only consider him a "role player," his role was awfully significant.

The expectations are much, much higher for a proven player who knows our system vs. such no-names as Martin, Dobson, Harper, and Johnson (someone I'm not even familiar with yet). There's not really any comparison whatsoever, and he's been quite underwhelming in his second year here, particularly at a time when he could've acted as a proven, veteran leader.

I don't think that's close to being true. LaFell was a 3rd round pick who continued to show growth and progress in every season while at Carolina, and that was in a limited offensive attack. Take a look at his catches/targets etc.

He stepped in last year and caught 87 balls for us, coming up particularly big in the postseason. We probably don't win the SB without him. If that's a guy you'd deem as "terrible," your expectations may be a bit too high. The problem is that he's looking like a former shell of himself and has pretty much sucked since returning from PUP.

Why should the Pats care what the Eagles think?

People play the game to WIN, the Pats were trying to put themselves in a better position to WIN. I don't give a crap about a player who feels disrespected that the other team is trying to win, if they're that weak they probably shouldn't play football.

Disagree. I'd have to give that honor to Dobson.

After seeing our guys get no seperation on the deeps throws, I miss Dobson because he can separate, now catching the ball is another story.

LaFell's production was significant, yes -- in a ROLE in which he was HEALTHY, complementing a mostly HEALTHY Edelman and Gronkowski. Those factors enabled him to put up those numbers. With circumstances drastically changed you can't expect him to suddenly morph into Randy Moss out there, especially when he's drawing more than his usual share of attention from defenders. That's all I'm trying to say.

I would love to see James White run more routes over the middle like Angle Routes from the backfield and Slants From the Slot. They run him on alot on Wheel and out Routes would like to see him more over the middle. White's been sure handed so lets not waste his talents. He really shut me up last week he's clearly better than average in the passing game with very good hands. LaFell is his own worse enemy not getting enough separation and stone hands to boot...we cannot depend on him. I want to see a heavy dose of White Sunday Night He has to be an option for us with Amdendola and S Chandler. I think Keshawn Martin is due for a Big Game would be the perfect time...I think he holds on to the Football this week. I think Brady likes Martin too he had one less target than LaFell and way more yards. If Amendola - Chandler - White and Martin brings it that put LaFell in is comfort zone as an after thought.

Any chance LaFell is not 100% and is still working out some rust? That's what it looks like to me

I'm not suggesting that they should. I'm stating that many Eagles fans and players have mentioned how it was dumb and helped turned the game around, which it certainly had some part in doing.

It's funny that if the shoe were on the other foot and we were the team down 0-14, had the opposition done that we'd have laughed and talked about how crazy it was.
