Re: Edelman offered 3-year deal, Pats waiting for answer

Probably...see Wlker, Wes.

They've probably got a 4pm offer to Sanders waiting on JE.

That's what I was going to post. They'll probably pull the offer after 4PM, tell Edelman "best of luck", and hand that offer to another WR. If it's not Sanders, it will be someone else (Jones, Nicks, etc.).

Re: Edelman offered 3-year deal, Pats waiting for answer

If he goes to FA it may not take long.

Didn't see this before I made my post. Now I sincerely hope Edelman takes the deal.

Re: Edelman offered 3-year deal, Pats waiting for answer

Before the cap was revised, there was a thread here abut what would constitute a fair offer from the Patriots. Most put Edelman's value at $4m a year, with an extra $500k pop for his punt returning skills. With the cap going up 15%-20% over the next few years, it's reasonable to think he should get between $4.5m and $5m average from the Patriots.

Re: Edelman offered 3-year deal, Pats waiting for answer

with the tampering period in affect, Minitron should know already if the deal hes been offered is acceptable.

there is no excuse to wait longer then today, and the patriots know it.

Re: Edelman offered 3-year deal, Pats waiting for answer

I don't want to lose Edelman as punt returner, almost more than as a receiver. I wish they would've wrapped him up earlier. But "assigned value" is what the Pats are all about and we fans just have to live with it.

Re: Edelman offered 3-year deal, Pats waiting for answer

If a player leads you on, then you miss out on other opportunities if he has loyalty to the team drafting him keeping him on til he found his groove familiar offense. Them he should accept a deal between 5 to 6 million for that loyalty If he leaves for greener pastures they might end up not being so.
Especially if he's going to a team that doesn't have a solid foundation like Cleveland for instance they change personnel and coaches like some individuals change underwear.
The Patriots need to know what they have and what they need.

Why should a player show loyalty to a team? When he can be cut at anytime with out getting his salary? It is sports! Loyalty is out the window. The low draft picks/udfa get one chance at a big payday so damn right he should take his time to see what else is out there.

Re: Edelman offered 3-year deal, Pats waiting for answer

NFLN said he has a 4PM deadline to accept. I'm hoping Golden Tate is plan B.

Re: Edelman offered 3-year deal, Pats waiting for answer

But I hope we don't overpay, either. IMO, the rumored Andre Roberts deal to Washington (4 years/$16M, $8M guaranteed) sets a baseline for both Edelman and Emanuel Sanders. I don't know if I'd pay more than $5M/year AAV.

$5M/yr for Edelperson?? I hope not. I like the guy but he's a slot receiver who had one great year. If they wouldn't pay Welker $6/yr ....

I'm hoping it's 3 years, $12M. Maybe $6M guaranteed.

Re: Edelman offered 3-year deal, Pats waiting for answer

The bad news is that we don't know if the offer was good enough.

The good news is that the Patriots are at least close enough to other offers that Yee was talking with them yesterday.

Different scenarios. Welker was already on the wrong side of 30.

but he wasn't a injury bug....edelman is

Again with the misinformation.

Welker left money on the table to join the broncos.

Re: Edelman offered 3-year deal, Pats waiting for answer

Reported the offer was 3/14 with 7 guaranteed, with up to 21 with escalators.

i hope edelman stays, but i think another team is going throw more money at him.

So between $4.33 to $7 million. That means he'll likely make about $5-6 million per year.

That is a solid deal for both sides. Edelman could make as much as $7M APY which is more than Welker or Amendola saw last season.

Re: Edelman offered 3-year deal, Pats waiting for answer

Should we all tweet at him? remind him how much NE loves him.

That's more than fair.

Again the misinformation---no he didn't.

It depends if Edelman is looking at a contract built around escalators he would be best remaining here. The Patriots offense gives him the best chance to succeed.
