(some) Chargers fans are not worried about the Pats

I live in Southern California and while the Patriots will always be my favorite team, I used to always like the Chargers. But since we beat them in the playoffs their fans, which I have to deal with sometimes, are the biggest bunch of wusses I have ever met. I posted a reply in their forum. I did not talk smack. I wonder how long it will take before I get banned.

3 things:

1 - Their opinions on our offseason moves are laughably wrong

2 - the Chargers were a whole lot better than the Patriots last year. They were 14-2, losing only 2 very close games. They dominated us in the playoffs, and we were very fortunate to win the game. god knows why they stopped giving the ball to LT2, and thank god for Troy Brown.

3 - they have signed no-one, and lost 3 important coaches.

considering the above, I think these 2 teams are now close. that team is loaded w/ young, fast, talent. if we can draft one more stud linebacker and DB, our speed deficit will be narrowed or gone on defense, and we now have some WR's to throw to.

anyways, it's close.

You forgot one.

4- Merriman has been off the juice for about a year now, he'll probably look like Giselle next season.

To be fair, SoCal cherry-picked the most negative responses. Here are some on the other side of the fence, just from the first four pages of the 10+ page thread:

we had to be worried about the pats the second brady became qb there (even though we have beaten him before)

Hopefully we won't have to face them in the playoffs again.

Hell yes we need to be worried about the Pats. Let's be realistic here...this is the team that beat us last year, and they've easily improved their roster the most out of all the teams in the NFL, let alone the AFC.

They're the only team that worries me though...the Colts won't be as good, and neither will the Ravens probably. But the prospect of playing the Pats in the playoffs in NE next year sucks, frankly...

Yeah we should be worried. Didn't they beat us at home in the playoffs? They're an improved team.

I think the DONKS will be much improved too. More worried about them since we play them twice.

Oh, not to mention they have 2 picks BEFORE us.

To be honest. It will be best for the chargers to realize they've got some good competition next year. A bunch of teams are progressing. Its up to the chargers to meet the challange and work to be better.

I think we should always 'worry' about the Pats, they are a well coached team that consistantly puts a good product onto the field no matter what the 'experts' think of their talent.

We will beat them, because we have a better team, but you should always 'worry' about the pats

It does add blance but even some of these are back handed compliments.

Lets see.

- Gostkowski has won more playoff games as a Patriot kicker than the Chargers over the last few years

- They are probably more worried that Shawne "The steriod" Merriman will get another suspension

- Talk about injuries, Castillo and Phillips lost some time due to injury and then there was news that Rivers hurt his ankle in the Pats game and wouldn't had played if they advanced to the next round

- If you thought the Pats had problems at the WR postion, I look at the Chargers. Eric Parker is going to have to step up, something he hasn't done yet only marginally did when they picked up McCardell. Vincent Jackson could be awesome, but as part of a starting combo, I'm not worried. They might want to improve considering the Broncos upgraded there.

- The tread on LT's wheels is slowly wearing thin. Good thing they have an insurance policy in Turner.

let them not worry about the Pats...didn't they do the same last time the two teams met?
how did that work out for them? and last time I checked their new HC isn't an upgrade.

Chargers fans are some of the most obnoxious ones I've encountered. The week before the playoff game against them was filled with nonstop trolling from their end on the boards. They make Bronco fans look like patron saints.

That seriously steams me. Its becuase woithoiweutioewyioweuyowueoiyu god that pisses me off, and really gets under my skin. We ******* beat them(xcuse my language) and they are ******* jacking off to LDT's tears because we ******* celebrated(like no body on their team is classless...) I just wish Daniel Graham ***** up Drayton Florence again when he tried to head butt him. Shawn Merriman I hope his ******* wang falls off.

Anyway, after I got that out of my system I feel better. Looking back at my post its funny.
Hilarious.

Some are still struggling with their reality check:

Team>talent.

Why would Charger fans worry about the Patriots? They have bigger concerns - Norv Turner is leading their team. That would be the #1 worry on my list.

...and Einsteins. The Charger boards have more morons than you could possibly believe. Not all of them, for sure, but a lot. Bronco fans are at least knowledgable.

The Chargers have about as much chance of making the playoffs next year as the Raiders do, which is to say almost no chance. This is a franchise in complete disaray.

this is as ridiculous as the posts in that Chargers thread

They didnt make the playoffs in 2005 and they had LT and Merriman. That's a tough division. Denver will be better. KC is always unpredictable at home. A loss here or there and suddenly they're 3rd in the division. That means they're out. What has Norv Turner ever done to demonstrate he can lead a team to the playoffs as an HC?

They probably do have a better chance than the Raiders, but not much. I don't think you grasp the issues they've had in the off-season. Incidentally, I predicted ****tsburgh would miss the playoffs in 2006 about 5 seconds after they beat Seattle in the SB. We all know how that turned out.

Hate to say this but I respect the average Colts fan a lot more than I do the average narcissistic, clueless Charger fan.
And at least the Colts have won something so their fans actually have some basis for confidence whereas the Chargers have not won any hardware whatsoever and they still think their team is implicitly better than ours when they've made no major moves while the Pats have loaded up for bore big time this offseason!

Charger fans are not worried about the Pats because Chargers fans are worried about the Chargers

Chargers fans are all morons with 3 teeth that are addicted to Methamphetamines.

Yeah... real sweet guys.

Of course they are, it is a CHARGERS message board. Do you see a lot of forehanded compliments for other teams here?

I just thought this whole thread was very biased... I'm sure someone could go through any of our threads about another team and pick out the most moronic, homer posts and make a nice thread of them saying what a bunch of morons we are.

Honestly, I think the fact that they are even discussing it shows that they ARE worried about us.

Check out this Chargers forum thread titled "Do we need to worried about the Pats?"

http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=40687

It started yesterday and is already 10 pages long. Here are some of the gems:

============

The Pats are the ones worrying....Why else would they start signing all these free agents like crazy, when for years their forumla of success didn't revolve around signing any big name players in the offseason? The answer is simple my friends...The Patriots are fearful of how much of an NFL juggarnaut the Chargers have become, so they are acting out in desperation by spending big money for FA's in a futile attempt to reclaim their former glory...Unfortunately for them, we cannot be stopped

============

The pats have big injury problems every year. their defense still got a year older they got 1 LB that can run so what?? they are still slow as hell. WR Stallworth is always injured even if he is playing QJ will shut him down then who after stallworth?? their great overpaid Welker or their great blocking tight end they do have brady who will turn them all into very good wide outs but im not impressed with their running game yet

============

Fact. Their biggest wins have hung on questionable officiating and FG kicks that cleared the bar in the waning seconds. How many playoff games have they won without Vinateri ?

============

I worry less about the regular season. The Pasties have built a team designed to win NOW. They don't have a long term future based on current spending. They are going to make one last run for the gold and the future be damned.

============

Brady isn't even a probowl level quarterback in the AFC.

============

I agree very much. Brady just isn't as good as
1) Manning
2) Rivers
3) Palmer
so he will not make the probowl

============

Sure, they have some talented players added but Nothing that would make me feel their overall team strength can compare to S.D.

============

they are the panicked ones after putting inferior talent on the field 2 playoff appearances in a row, thus they are spending like they are. why would we have to worry about them.

:rofl:

oh what the heck
:rofl:
that is the dumbest **** ive ever seen

I don't worry about Pats either. That is because we don't play each other this year. The only way we could meet is if somehow the both of us play each other in Super Bowl 42(I am not good with symbols).

Right now it is the offseason, and noone should worry about what any other team is doing, except there own. Because it is free agency and then the draft comes up. Start thinking about other teams in early July, and that is when the preseason games begin.

I like coming over here, because you guys are good people.
