Tebow working on zone-read plays in practice (EDIT: and "catching passes" too)

seriously Im not posting this to be an ******* but there is a training camp thread. I really don't want the forums to turn into tebow mania so can we keep all training camp related news that isn't injury related in there. Again not being an ******* but I and I think many other posters would like a single thread where we can discuss all training camp news in one place instead of having 6 different threads.

I disagree.

There isn't anything to discuss except:

1. Training camp news.
2. Speculation and analysis heavily informed by training camp news.
3. Aaron Hernandez' legal difficulties.
4. The Jets suck.
5. The Dolphins may or may not suck.
6. The Bills suck.

Do you really want to make this a 5-thread forum?

All Tebow has ever done is win

No he has not.

QB's do not "win". Teams do.

I'm sure the teams now paying their QBs 20m pa will be disappointed they're wasting their money on such an unimportant expense.

No he has not.

For his NFL career, Tim Tebow is 19-31 with the Broncos and the Jets. That is a losing record. Tim Tebow is 0-4 vs the Patriots by a combined score of Patriots 164 - Tebow's team 78.

Those losses featured two of the most humiliating plays by quarterbacks in NFL history. The butt-fumble by Mark Sanchez and the longest sack in the history of the NFL.

By comparison, in the same three-year period Devin McCourty, drafted two spots after Tim Tebow in 2010, has gone 42-11.

All Devin McCourty has ever done is win!

To be fair, when that sack occurred they were down big and he was trying to extend the play. I believe it was either 3rd or 4th down.

You're factoring in Jets game when he played a hand full of snaps at best??

You are either trolling or being ignorant. QBs are the one position in football that get credit for wins or losses in games they start.

Tebow's record is 9-7.

Tebow sucks (ahhh that felt so good, I'm gonna type it again). Tebow sucks.

Re: Tebow working on zone-read plays in practice (EDIT: and "catching passes" too

Last time I looked, Tebow had a Pats jersey on. I think a few on this board still believe and are acting like he's a Jet.

Last I remember donning a Patriot jersey doesn't make you a great player by default. TT is a great guy and a hard worker....good for him but those guys are a dime a dozen. He sucks at QB and is at best an unknown outside of QB. It's not disloyal to point out the elephant on the field.

Strawman argument. Where did I say QB's are an unimportant expense?

Do you think Big Ben and his 22 passer rating "won" Super Bowl 40? Should he get credit for that win?

There's an excellent reason why QB's don't have a win-loss record like pitchers do in baseball.

No, the Broncos were 9-7 in games Tebow started. That is much more accurate than what you said.

Peyton Manning fan

No I just always hated the argument that QB's win. It just sounds like it's something that only fans with a real lack of knowledge of the game would say.

"Tebow just wins"... nope.

I'm not going to get into it because I kind of agree with you. Whilst the QB is the most important piece of any team by a mile, the team is important - which was a point I made and you ignored:

Yes he's had good teams about him
.

The point is, you don't win a NC, a Heisman and get into the playoffs your first year as a starting QB without some "poise and presence".

Well I don't know about the "by a mile" part... teams with great defenses, great coaching and not much at the QB position have won rings before. See Dilfer, Trent and Hostetler, Jeff. Also see Johnson, Brad. Teams with great QB's and suspect defenses have fallen short. See Brady, Tom.

I'm not disputing that Tebow brings a lot to the table, and my response isn't so much about him, I just hate the argument that QB's "win". The Dilfer and Big Ben examples are reasons why you don't say the QB won the game. Teams do. (and the QB obviously is a huge part of the team).

I know I was being provocative with the post I made. But them's the facts.

The sack was another example of poor decision making and holding onto the ball too long. What's the point of erasing 28 yards of offense in some foolish attempt to save the day?

Look at it this way, Tim Tebow couldn't beat out Mark Sanchez nor Greg McElroy for the Jets QB position, so how does that support the statement that "all Tebow has ever done is win?"

And I wasn't talking about individual games but more about seasons and a career where I think the QB is more relevant - us Patriot fans wouldn't have had the ride we've had with Cassell at QB all this time.

As for "by a mile" the separation in terms of money in contracts between QBs and any other position, and the relative number of QBs taken high in the draft compared to all other positions does tend to support my hypothesis. The only other positions which come close are LTs (who protect the QB) and pass rushers (who attack the opposing QB).

But like I said, I was taking issue with the notion that Tebow was entirely lacking of poise and presence and on hindsight could have worded things slightly differently. How about "Tebow has consistently been part of winning teams"?

That's a lot more accurate than saying "Tebow just wins".

And I'll concede that it's more likely that your team will be good if you have a good QB than if you don't... moreso than any other position. But that hasn't been true every time.

Cassell gets a bad rap for some reason from Pats fans. It's too bad they fell just short of the playoffs, I would have loved to see how far this team could have gone with Cassell back there. The Pats were starting to roll at the end of that season and I really think could have made some noise in the playoffs....

I agree, but all I ever hear is how Tebow "Lost" 4 out of his last 5 games started for the Broncos

I guess its a double standard. We can only credit Tebow if he is on the losing side.

I love the smell of quarterbacks who have a career 47.9% completion percentage in the morning. It smells like victory.
