Are you bleepin kidding me!? Our secondary sucks but this thug definitely is NOT the answer. He's nothing special as a db and a very bad dude. Like criminally bad. :(

Putting everything in perspective.

Yes the concerns are real and he has had a history. But the reality is someone of his talent wouldn't have been had for a 4th if he was a model citizen. So we sort of can't take the good and not the bad on this one.

In all honesty however this trade turns out for the pats, you have to take your hat off to BB and this front office. We had a weakness for all of the world to see and they went out and aggressively took a chance to try and fix it.

That's really all we can ask as pats fans and in my opinion is just a terrific move. Talib works out ala Dillon/Moss/Welker then we have 1st dibs/franchise rights to this guy. He pulls a Haynesworth/Ocho and we are left in the same position we are now really except we gave up a mid round pick.

Couldn't be happier with this move and now he has a week and a bit to start to learn the system. Well done BB

interesting...i wonder if opposing QB's will now look to whoever is being guarded by the other CB automatically

I know this is going to piss everyone off but... he's looked good in every game except... Wait for it... ugh ******* ****..... against the Giants in week 2.

As bad a game as you will ever see from a cb. Nicks 10-199 almost all from coverage from talib.

He has had more great and good games then bad though.

I like the trade, but Talib isn't nearly "automatically look the other way" good.

Hey Im new here, I follow both the pats and bucs very closely, so I can wait to see what talib will do here.

Also to be fair, in the giants game this year the bucs where stupid to blitz almost the whole game even tho they couldn't get any pressure on eli. This made it hard on talib to play sign coverage on cruz the whole game without much help.

Agreed, he saw the defiency and went out to fix it. Regardless of how it turns out I'm not going chicken little on BB for trying to get the secondary turned around. I know there will be fans and media that applaud the move now, but will be ready to pounce like hypocrites if it fails.

Actually he'll have over 2 weeks to get acclimated since he isn't coming back until AFTER the Buffalo game
BTW- to give it some prospective, its more likely that the comp pick we get for Welker will be higher than the one we lost for Talib... (just a year later) And who knows. Maybe we'll get something for Anderson. (boy I bet he can't be too happy about THAT decision.....except those days he visits the bank.)

So he's out for the buffalo game, is he still allowed to practice and go to meetings?

Welcome :rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker:

Any help in the Secondary is welcome help. Hopefully the culture developed by Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick can help reignite and re-establish Talib's career.

I'm never sure. Its seems like sometimes they have to stay away, and other times, for no apparent reason they can participate.

Because of the trade, he's essentially getting an extra week in length. Perhaps they'll give him a break in the other direction and let him attend meetings and or practices.

BTW- this would be a great time from someone with the skills to put up Talib's stats for this year from PFF, or FOO's. I'd be interested to see how he compared with the rest of the league on a per game basis

Deus he's not the only one who doesn't like what they gave up to get this kid. But you've got to give up something to get something. Hopefully, this ends up working out for both teams. The secondary needed help. I'm glad that they are trying to do something about it. I'm going to sit back and watch it all come together.

there are several posters saying he's ineligible for the Buffalo game is there a link? I read earlier he was available 11/4 but cant remember the source.

it was a misinterpretation of the suspension. he's suspended 4games...not 4 weeks. he would have been available if he was still on the bucs.

he Patriots deferred comment on Talib’s status to the NFL. The league has not yet responded to our inquiry.

UPDATE 5:34 p.m. ET: Per the league, Talib’s suspension extends through Week 10. It’s four games, not four weeks.

Thanks to bye, Talib’s suspension grows from four weeks to five | ProFootballTalk

FWIW my friends who are Bucs fans basically were all of the consensus that:

Before this trade if you asked them how good Talib was they would all have said that he was one of the top 5 CB's in the entire league.

They also said that they just wished he straightened up and stayed on the field more to help the team because he was so talented.

So it seems to be what everyone here thinks but it is always good to get the fans point of view as Fans can usually be hypercritical of a player.
