I always thought that Miami would be the best place for Manning, but Dever's cap space makes it able to not only sign Manning to a Manning type deal, but be able to sign some of his Colt buddies as well. That could make Denver just too attractive to Manning to go to Miami or AZ and watch them have to try to and squeeze him into a cap that might ultimately harm the team..
As for the Pats, several posts, I have seen some very simple ways that the Pats could create anywhere from 15-20 Million in additional; cap space. Of course all those carry consequences down the road, so I don't think we want to over do it like the Jets have, 2014 can't come too soon for those buffoons. They'll have some cap space then, but what they don't realize, it will be a LOT less than everyone else.
BTW- The Pats ARE going to have to do something to create some more space if they are going to be active in the FA market.....at least as active as many of us want them to be. Like MG said, its going to take at least $7MM to pay for the draft and in season reserve. So that would leave us with just $9MM left.
Well my shopping list includes Richard Marshal, Brandon Lloyd, and Adam Carracker, so I think we'll need some more space. And if the reports are true, and guys like Wembley and/or Williams are in our sights, we will have to be Jet-like in our cap manipulation.
