Has anyone picked the Pats to win?

I don't know if anyone likes the Pats this weekend, but I do know Blue Horseshoe loves Anacott Steel. FWIW.

Everyone that doesn't watch ESPN.

They're not really hiding their bias at this point and are making it pretty clear they are against the Patriots and are trying to find fans and people that are pulling against the Patriots. Especially Sports Nation.

Now why would they purposely be this biased in plain sight? Doesn't it almost seem like ESPN is giving the Giants their moment in the sun while they can? It's almost as if they know they're not going to be talked about much come next week...

Listening to interviews with current and former players on NFL Radio and I hear the same thing each time. "It is hard to pick against New England but I have to go with the Giants."

A few current AFC players, such as JJ Watt, have said, "I am rooting for the AFC team but the Giants should win."

Well I just made the mistake of watching NFL Network, got to hear these gems:

- Sterling Sharpe doesn't think Tom Brady has the offensive fire power to compete with the Giants. (How Brady has fared on the season putting up points against far superior defenses and putting up 6-7 more ppg than the Giants is obviously irrelevant.)

- A voice of reason asked how they could be so confident with the Giants when they lost four straight? Answer? "They weren't healthy." (True, but no one seems to remember that the Patriots were pretty banged up when their D was being most criticized, including in-game injuries that certainly made it easier for Manning to complete his game-winning drive at the end of Week 9. The difference? They haven't lost since.)

I don't know. I understand I have inherent bias as a Pats fan, but I am more than capable of looking at different perspectives rationally and seeing their merits. The one-sidedness of the analysis from most "journalists" is literally baffling me at this point. Maybe they're all secretly rooting for the Pats and know Tom plays better angry.

Which moron in Vegas decided that our Patiots should be 3 point favorites? Hardly anyone outside of New England thinks that they can win. Hell, some of our local homer media even think that their chances are slim. :bricks:

I usually don't get caught up with who picks who to win, but this is getting ridiculous. Outside of Doug Flutie I have not heard anyone pick the Pats.

I live in New York so I expect it from the papers and local shows, but every national radio and TV show I have seen has someone picking the Giants. And some think it won't even be close.

I guess I shouldn't even watch the game.

I have. In fact I picked the Pats to win the SB back on Labor Day. Though I picked them to play against the Packers.

The Las Vegas line does not have anything to do with who is the favorite. It is based on getting people to bet in a way that the house will win no matter how the game turns out.

I have had Sirius on all week and most people seem to be picking the Giants as well.

Does it drive anyone else crazy that these "experts" don't even know that Mayo's name is Jerod, not Gerard? I find myself frequently yelling "JE-ROD!" at the TV.

#1) Who in the hell are "our local homer media" and 2) (who among those "homers") "think their chances are slim?"

I've been listening too. Rich Gannon picked the Pats, but yeah, most are picking the Giants

Yes. What also bothers me is all of the local news media covering the game and showing exactly why the news people shouldn't cover sports. I don't care what the cute little news girl from channel 4 thinks about the Super Bowl. Just like I couldn't give two craps about who Mike Lynch thinks will win the republican nomination.

Haven't heard a whole lot of media this week but this is what I've heard so far.

-Jackie MacMullen is picking the Patriots. Said 4 days ago she thought Giants but being around this Patriot team in Indy has changed her mind. Must be that vibe I've been talking about.... :D
-Jet fan Craig Carton of Boomer and Carton fame on WFAN in NY likes the Pats.
-Mad Dog Russo likes the Pats.
-Steeler fan Curt Schilling and Larry Bird like the Pats.
-Fox NFL guy Jay Glaser thinks the Gaints have the matchups but can't pick 'em because of BB and TB and 2 weeks to prep.

Rich Gannon of Sirius XM picked the Pats to win. He's the only host on there that said the Pats will win. He was also the only host on there to predict the Giants going to the playoffs.

Great. How does Patton baby's win-loss record percentage compare to other football talking heads picks this season?

I never understand why people always say this.

Yes, they make their $$$ in the margins, and that's also why they decided the Patriots giving 3 points would be good for business. It would make people take that bet. But, since 65% of the betting public is taking that bet, Vegas stands to lose a heap of money if the Patriots don't win.

Therefore, Vegas is taking the Patriots.
