Patriots Shuffle Roster, Release Price

Re: Taylor Price Waived

This post is so true on so many levels. I wish everyone would look at this and give it some thought.

I think BB would have given a non-productive WR a lot more time if we weren't on our 3rd center and his backup, 17th LB, and 23rd DB this season. While Price probably just didn't get "it", we have so many injuries all over the place that we just couldn't afford to hold onto him and hope he would turn the page. There is more invested into Ochocinco from a monetary standpoint and he has proven a lot more over his career than Price has.

Why it was Price over Underwood doesn't bode well for Price, though.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Have to admit, BB has been striking out with 2nd and 3rd round picks. He picks projects with high upside potential, then appears not to have the patience to allow the upside to develop.

Who has Belichick taken in the 2nd/3rd that he's given up on too early? I can't think of any that have done anything worth mentioning other than Butler, and I think he's just their nickel corner. If he were showing too little patience, then we'd see these guys develop elsewhere, but they're not.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Not to worry... they still have Tiquan Underwood.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

If Branch goes down, we are screwed

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Given the inability of the Patriots to make wise decisions with draft picks and Wide Receivers I look forward to the Patriots lining up with 5 Tight Ends.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Whatever FO. Maybe this offense is unnecessarily difficult, but I don't have a receiver who did well elsewhere after being cut though.
What a waste of draft picks, what a waste. We could have been a damn unstoppable team if only we were going for talent instead of all this value picks.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

3rd round picks, post-2005:

2006 - David Thomas
2007 - None
2008 - Shawn Crable, Kevin O'Connell
2009 - Brandon Tate, Tyrone McKenzie
2010 - Taylor Price
2011 - Stevan Ridley, Ryan Mallett

The New England Patriots released wide receiver Taylor Price on Saturday afternoon; a move that will be heavily criticized by fans and analysts in the immediate future. ...

Difference of opinion, I think BB believes that the 'value picks' are more vital to long term success. The team hasn't had a losing season in a very long time. I do kind of think we are one or two impact players on defense away from another superbowl though. I'd love to see both first round picks go towards an OLB and S.

I guess Belichick will be known as the .....

Re: Taylor Price Waived

I wonder if this makes an off-season move for Vincent Jackson more likely.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

This must mean Moss is coming back

Bummer. I was gonna post that this must mean that Randy Moss returns to the Patriots.

I know we have a history of going for disgruntled players, but NO. VJ is one wrong move away from an entire season suspension. I don't care how talented you are, your ability to contribute is greatly hindered when you get a DUI every weekend and get yourself suspended.

Bad news for Ridley

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Welker and Branch are free agents. Be surprised if there weren't at least one high draft pick used on a WR, unless it's addressed in free agency prior to the draft.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

31 Years old or not...the more reason why Welker needs to retire here

Great WRs don't come through New England too often,Welker is one of them and Kraft needs to compensate Wes as reasonably as possible without entering cap hell.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

Last thing you do is sign a big priced receiver. HE might not be able to pick up things and be a total bust. Instead draft some productive guys low and get a bunch of vets and free agents and try to see who can pick it up. Cut them as they fail and replace them with others. There are always late round unfa types who stick on some teams. This team seems unique in that it isn't so much athletic ability or hands but ability to learn the system that is a sticking point.

Re: Taylor Price Waived

This is disappointing. I had hopes that he would be a contributor this year.

The one thing I do admire about BB is that he is not afraid to correct mistakes that he may have made in selecting players. He doesn't care what the media or fans say, he will take action and move on.
