I regret Mr and Mrs Mangini producing Eric.

As much as everyone hates him, I believe what he says, and I don't have a problem with him. My real problem was the portrail or BB by the media and the harsh penalty of losing a 1st round pick.

You can take this for whatever it is worth because I'm a guy on the internet.

But the story I've heard from someone close to Kraft is that Mangini was doing some gamesmanship to try to distract Bill during the game and then it got bigger than he wanted when the Jets picked it up and ran with it and the NFL stepped in.

Personally I believe it. I don't think Mangini was out to do much more than **** with BB during the game, I don't think most coaches would go out of their way to do something like that because of the fraternal nature of coaching.

Pizz off Eric you

Agreed with fnordcircle. I still hate him for what he did, but probably not as much as that f*ck1n slob/hack Tomase. I have not visited the Herald's site or since 2/3/2008 and never will.

The Rat has regrets.

Karma is a biatch. 3 years later the rat has the feel of desperation sniffing around NFL garbage cans looking for leftovers job. Maybe BB has an opening for that waterboy position

Rather funny HE wants to "extend an olive branch" to BB,

Mangini regrets the results of Spygate

This is Pete Rose all over again. Out of coaching and trying to revive his career, Mangini expresses remorse. I bet he the next move is to write a book about the whole thing to make some money and plead for forgiveness.

He's a coach with a career losing record and a history of turning on those who gave him a shot. He's not any good at being a talking head so the career options are narrowing.

Go away, Mangini, just go away.

I get where Mangini is coming from. Hear me out.

The previous season, the Pats threw his camera crew out of Gillette Stadium. So the following season, they had the Pats crew thrown out. They didn't expect the brand spanking new Commish to come down as hard as they did.

This goes to prove that the whole filming signals wasn't a big deal. It's gamesmanship.

It doesn't seem ESPN or Mangini have any regrets about the timing of his sudden act of contrition just before the NFL Network runs a profile on Belichick.

I knew it was you

If this was true, then he should have come out right afterwards and said so. The Jets could have asked the league to lay off. Instead not only did he keep his mouth shut, he had that stupid smirk on his face the whole season like he had really put one over on the Pats. Also, what is this BS that he "regrets the result" of Spygate? Why won't he say that if he had it to do over again he would have never done what he did? Why? Because he would have done the exact same thing, and he's only pulling this BS now because he can't get a job as a coach and it's going to be tough to be a broadcaster because so many in the NFL hate him. Reap what you sow, Eric.

Doesn't matter if the dit wit regrets it now, the damage has already been done to the Patriots organization.

I think what he meant to say is "Sorry, Patriots and Bill. I was immature when I got my ass kicked and have competition envy," but his little rat brain wouldn't let him so he chirped out this convoluted, meaningless and tepid apology.

Enjoy being unemployable, Eric...

I'll forgive this guy as soon as BB does and not before. If his relationship with BB is, "a work in progress", then I'll assume that translates from BeliSpeak into, "go to h***, you rat fink".

Seriously, why does he regret it now and not years ago? Because it is inconvenient for him now? Isn't that just too bad.

I'll never forgive him, but I wouldn't be surprised if him and Belichick ended up on decent terms in the not too distant future.

Yah, after all we're allies with Germany even after they bombed Pearl Harbor

This. It was started by The Rat, but was also thanks in large part to the idiot commish.

When The Rat he comes out and says "I did the same thing with the Jets" and "When I worked for the Pats, we didn't even LOOK at those videos until later the next week, and even then they weren't very useful", then maybe I'll pay attention (a little).

Too bad he couldn't have defused the whole thing before it got to the ridiculous point that it did.

Spygate was the most overrated pile of nonsense this league has ever encountered. Three things gave it legs: Mangini seeking to torpedo his team’s biggest rival, a rookie commissioner seeking to establish his “authority,” and spiteful anti-Patriots jealousy league-wide from other teams down through rival fan bases. Over-the-top overreaction from all sides. Mangini knows it and is feeling the guilt. He might start making amends by writing BB a check for $500k.

This seems to make sense to me as well. I don't think he ever thought of it as a really big deal. His real crime, however, is not speaking up at the time and saying that he didn't think it was a big deal. His silence on the matter was pretty damning.

Hope he's sincere but it still doesn't make up for it. He's actually pretty good on espn.
