To those fans who booed

That's not contrarian???? Everyone agrees that the Pats weren't on fire in the first half.

The question is, Do you boo your team in this situation.

The answer is yes, if you are a spoiled fan, or cannot accept that other teams earn their paychecks too, and that the Ravens are one of the best teams in the NFL right now.

At the time of booing, there were only about 4 teams in the NFL with only one loss. Booing one of them in the first half is simply stupid.

If you want to support your team, show it. If your goal is to discourage them and take away home field advantage, then boo.

If you think booing in this situation is a good thing, then the word is not contrarian.
Most excellent. :rocker:

Youre a disgrace

It was embarrassing, sure you may not agree with every decision but to boo your team? Nantz, Simms and half the NE team couldn't believe it

You dont deserve this team

I booed too when they didn't give it a shot for the long FG. They were down & things weren't going well.

Hey.. If you don't want to hear the boo's then you should pay the $ and sit next to those people and cheer when a player drops back to back 3rd down passes.. ;)

complaining on a forum has as much use as to your theories on who the pats will be drafting

This.

I'm a customer. Its not my job to make Brady feel good. Its the team's job to win games and entertain me.
Thanks for the perfect example of a spoiled fan.

This is EXACTLY the problem. It is not about the team winning. It isn't about the team at all.

It is all about YOU.

YOU must be entertained. The team must NEVER be behind. Winning a thrilling game in OT is not enough for spoiled brats like you. No, you do not want any thrill at all. What you want is to be entertained every minute, which means the game must NEVER be in doubt. Other wise you boo.

Spare me the, "I paid for a ticket, it is my right to boo" bullcrap.

That is the reason Ravens fans in the crowd booed.

This was one of the best team wins in years and you are upset because you were not entertained in the first half??????

Do the Pats a big favor and help the team win. Stay home.

I didn't boo, but I understand where you're coming from. I've been a season ticket holder for 10 years myself and I always get a kick out of these lecture threads. Everyone who goes to the games sucks and everyone who watches at home are hard core.
Not sure what you mean. Plenty of great fans (most of them) in the stands, and plenty of whiners more interested in being entertained (defined not as a thrilling come from behind victory but by watching a game where the Pats lead from gun to gun) at home.

.

You really have a warped view of what it means to be a "fan". And if you think professional sports are anything but entertainment for "fans" then you really need to take a step back and re-evaluate your life.

The booing for the decision to take the SAFE road is NOT uncommon, uncalled for or bad in any way shape or form. As a matter of fact it shows that the crowd is paying attention.

Yes the patriots Must win 50 to 0 Every week and Never be behind, otherwise its not a good team.

You act as if the same fans that boo'd the end of 1st half decision weren't cheering all through the 2nd half and OT.

since I'm paying customer, I have every right to boo
You have the right. You have the right to wear Ravens shirts and cheer Heap's and Boldin's TDs.

The question isn't whether you have the right to cheer or boo. You do.

The question is why would you, knowing how the players feed on fan reaction. That's what home field advantage is. Fans in the stands.

Playing away is playing in a hostile environment. Customers like you turn Gillette into a hostile environment for the Pats. Which is your right, as you keep saying.

The difference between those two situations was the Greatest Show on Turf had regained ALL the offensive momentum in that game in the last quarter. Had they won the toss we'd have one less Lombardi, if any... The NEP defense was gassed. Yesterday Bill trusted his defense that got stronger as the game progressed to make a stop because they had been making them in the second half and consistently throughout the 4th quarter even as the offense continued to gain ground while sputtering...

The one thing majority of fans who post here have in common it's that they generally have no idea what BB or this team is ever doing unless they're pitching a shutout or scoring a 40 burger...and entertaining them.
Why did they take the TO at all if they were just going to take a knee?
Thank God for that minority of fans here who are so in tune with BB. Without them to let us fair weather pink hats know what BB is thinking at all times this board would be truly doomed. How can such a perfect state of harmony, with BB's mind, be achieved? Help us, O' enlightened ones.

HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT?? Wow..Talking about the extreme! Guess you never went to a game in the 90's.. Now that was hostile.. To funny.. Just to funny..

I would have been booing at certian points if I was at the game. Get over it, there was plenty of times it was deserving.

The fake fans are just going to sit there with a dopey smile on their face when they have horrible clock management at the end of the game, just for example.

Who says the booing didn't help? They certainly were more urgent in the 2nd half.

I don't get paid to be a cheerleader, so I don't have to cheer when they're doing something stupid.

Right on Synovia!!!! I can't believe how WussyVille Patriot fandom has become. This thread is embarrassing and a prime example of the femanization of Amercia.
"Don't you dare boo my Billy and my Tommy". So embarrassing!!

You answer your own question about booing// To funny.. If players feed off fan reaction, then boo'ing is necessary to help turn around their game play..

When someone tells you in real life, what ever you occupation is, that your not meeting expectations, then what do you do? Give up or try harder???
Just like in football, the fans are letting the players know they aren't meeting their expectations..

Why is this a hard subject to understand and relate to.. ITS OKAY TO BOO.. It doesn't make you any less of a fan..

BTW, I'm waiting for the thread that says.. DON'T STAND AND CHEER!

HAHAHAH

You should find a new team to root for.

Clearly, Belichick sneers at your requirements for entertainment. He just wants to win, he doesn't care about entertainment.

I'll say this again: it's not about Brady being intercepted, it's about Brady throwing an incomplete pass and the Raven having all their timeouts. Then Zoltan kicks from the end zone and the next thing you know, the Ravens have the ball at the 50 yard line with 45 seconds left.

That's the concern in that position, much more so than an interception.

Go into the half, down by 3, make your adjustments on defense, and come out for the second half.

The Patriots won the game. I can care less if the game was entertaining.

So why did he eventually call the TIMEOUT????????

Booing is not only the RIGHT of the fans, it is needed at times.

The pats improved greatly after the booing? Coincidence? I think not!

The booing lets them know that their mediocrity will not be tolerated.

Overall, if they can play the way they did in the second half, when whacko flacco wasn't carving them up, then I think we have a chance of greatness.

We might well play them again in the playoffs.

This isn't rocket science folks. It's not difficult to explain. Baltimore had timeouts. So, you wind the clock down, take your shot, and if you convert the first down, then you're in business, and you still have 35 seconds and all your timeouts to move it 30 more yards for a 50 yard field goal.

BUT, if you fail, you kick the ball downfield, and you leave Baltimore with 25 seconds (let's say at the 50 yard line) to do their damage.

If you take the TO immediately and you fail, Baltimore has over a minute left from say the 50. Big difference.

So....why did BB take the timeout at all?????????

He DID do that, you know.

"Don't you dare boo my Billy and my Tommy". So embarrassing!!

99% of the time, I'm accused of "being a homer" and "chugging the koolaid" etc.
But some of the arguments and the way they've been put here are just embarrassing.

It's almost like members of the North Korean Parliament.

Now THERE'S a group who knows how to behave appropriately!

So why did he eventually call the TIMEOUT????????

I already explained it.

He let an amount run off the clock that allowed him to take a shot. If he gets it to the Patriots 35 with 35 seconds left and 3 timeouts, he has time for 4 plays any where on the field. He needs another 30 yards for a 50 yard field goal.

But if he fails on the first throw to move the ball 15-20 yards downfield, he can run it, force Baltimore to expend their timeouts, kick the ball, Baltimore gets the ball at the 45-50, but with 25-30 seconds left. Yes, they can kick a FG in that time.

But the alternative is this: Patriots get the ball at the 12 with Baltimore having all their TOs. Brady throws an incomplete pass, 2 runs, Baltimore gets the ball at the 45-50 with 1 minute left.
