Does anybody Realize that the Patriots Will have a top 10 pick this year?

Easily see Patriots making 3-4 trades in first four rounds and still ending up with five picks plus adding a few for 2012. This is why team with Belichick will not drop off into 3 win season. I have nothing wrong with this. Even if Patriots make playoffs as wild card, as we saw a few years back with Giants, anything can happen if team gets hot at right time

BB has enough picks in first 4 rounds to move around (up or down) to get just about whichever player(s) he targets. To sit back and second guess him is ridiculous. He'll play the 2011 draft like a symphony.

IMHO there is no way that he uses ALL the picks. He'll combine some to move up and he'll trade at least one, maybe more, out into next year for a higher pick in 2012.

The team already has a ton of rookies and second year guys developing on the roster, so to think that there will be another 8 or 10 youngsters make it is almost insane. Trade a pick or 2 for a good veteran CB and DE. Bodden will be back next season to help shore up the DB position and the kids will have another year under their belt. Ty Warren should be back next year if all goes well.

Keep the best of Whilhite,Wheatley,Arrington and draft a top CB.

Is Sanders in next year's plans? Can Sergio Brown develop enough to break into the 53?

Sign a veteran RB or draft one early day 2. Taylor,Morris,Faulk are probably on their way out. Maybe Faulk has one more year. BJGE is going to get around 4 yds /carry the way he's going.

Connolly is developing nicely.Get what we can for Mankins as he isn't in BB's plans for the future I'm sure. I don't see BB groveling like Ryan did for Revis.
Draft an OL in Rd 3. Use Rds 1 and 2 for DL,LB,CB.

JMHO

Why would they expend yet another top pick on a cornerback? If you assume Bodden and McCourty as the starters, Butler, Wheatley, Wilhite, and Arrington are plenty for depth.

You can never have enough good CB's.......Wheatley,Wilhite and Arrington haven't impressed me yet as CB's...Arrington is a good tackler and ST 'er.

Wilhite is Hobbs redux....Wheatley is made of glass....

If Wilhite is Hobbs redux, then we're fine considering he's the dime back if everyone is healthy next season. I'd expect them to sign a vet CB for competition but I'd be flabbergasted if they spend anything in the first three rounds on one.

understand...but I was also flabbergasted that Moss was traded for a third after 4 games.....go figure :)

I am so excited for next years draft. I don't get why everybody is down on this moss trade. The pats will have a TOP 10 pick this year! just think about that. A playoff team will have a chance at a first year playmaker as well as 7 other picks in the first 4 rounds!...

If they make the playoffs great.. if they don't, get ready for some GOOD football the next 6 years until brady and belichick leave together. I'm excited as you can see.
Eh, I used to get excited over things like this but now I see them for what they are. If the Patriots get the #8 pick for example, Belichick will trade it for the #12 pick plus a 6th rounder. Then he'll trade the #12 for a #14 plus a 7th rounder in 2012. Then he'll trade the #14 for the #24 plus a 5th rounder in 2032. etc, etc...

As of right now, I would rather be the Vikings. In a year or two? Us.
Bullcrap. There are no set of circumstances by which I'd rather have Childress/Favre over Belichick/Brady.

There hasnt been a lockout in Pro sports history that has terminated an ENTIRE season. Yes baseball had the world series cancelled but at least they played some games. I don't see a lockout happening in the time where football is at its greatest public interest ever. Owners will give in easily.
The NHL says hi. But I agree that there is no way we miss and entire NFL season.

I think the phrase goes..... You can never have enough good Defensive Lineman. As to the thread its self i don't count my draft picks until they're hatched. I think its still to early to say that the Raiders pick will be top ten, its likely not assured yet.

I'm sure there were many that thought the same exact thing about baseball and the world series.

The fact that the NFL is the biggest sport in America is irrelevant to negotiations. The owners do not want to continue as is, and the players don't want to give up anything they have succeeded in obtaining. Is one side or the other going to cave just because you and I will have to find something different to do on Sunday afternoons late in the year? I doubt it.
Personally I think the fact they are the biggest sports in America makes the lockout more likely, not less likely. The players see how huge the NFL is so they want their piece of the pie.

IMHO, it's a no brainer that we have a lockout of some sort, but no one's really going to care about a lockout in May if it gets settled in July. To me, the huge question is if the lockout extends into the regular season.

that will all depend on the new CBA and whether there is a rookie salary cap. BB doesn't always trade down - we took seymour 9th overall.

6th overall. But yeah, BB has stayed put when he feels he's got the player he wants. That was a unique situation though, because BB was just coming into NE and had to turn around a losing team and chose Seymour as the building block to do so.

We traded down in the Mayo draft, and risked losing him to cinci who luckily took Keith Rivers instead at #9. Mayo was then taken at #10. I thought BB was going to trade down once more but he didn't.

I don't think there was any 'lucky' about it. Rivers was always Cincy's object of desire, there were a couple of teams that did want Mayo (Lions being the main one), but he wasn't going earlier than when we took him.

From memory, did we not move up in the first to pick T Warren? We also moved up in the second for CJak ($%$#) and this year for Gronk. The notion that BB only trades down in the draft is held by in large by the same people who say the that Robert Kraft never spends to the cap.
If you are 100% committed to being wrong, who am I to argue?

I was talking about their team. Of course I wouldn't want Childress over Belichick. However, their team (as of right now) is more balanced with talent than our's is. In a year or two? Forget about it. We'll be on our way back up and the Vikings should be starting to rebuild.

If its a top 4 pick and u got a chance to get a Peterson or Robert Quinn then u dont pass that up period.

Actually the players don't seem to mind to keep things as is. The owners are the one who wants to make a change.

Yes, didn't you know? If the Raiders' pick doesn't end up in the top 10, we get Moss back and the last 13 weeks of the season are done over again! I'm glad some astute posters are pointing out these details that were lost on everyone else.

I'm pretty much an helpless Tigger type, myself, but I am 100% behind the sarcastic replies to the goofy-@$$ OP!! :rocker:

A (PROBABLE) Top 10 Pick next year??

GAW LEE.  :bricks:
