Yeah, and I really don't understand why. They have a very successful and storied franchise of their own, after all, and the two teams don't even really have the same kind of "rivalry" as say, Pats and the Colts. I don't really ever see Pats fans getting that wound up about the Steelers, myself included. Baffling.

It is interesting to twitter 'Tom Brady'. They talk about him 24 hours a day on twitter since the Bills game.

People hate us. Every other fan in the country hates us. HATRIOTS.

That Suzy Kolber incident was so completely tame, I mean Brady stopped and put his arm around her, told her he couldn't hear her and was going in. But fans across the nation want that to be the new spygate. Total hate.

I say embrace the hate and let other fans stew in their own juices. :D

Actually, this one reminds me more of the build-up to the Steelers game in 2007. We just barely snuck by an inferior opponent and the Steelers were supposed to come in and kick our ass with good defense. The only thing was, they got blown out.

This build up reminds me exactly of that (except without the guarantee, of course). I think the result, a win, will be the same.

I'm pushing all the stats aside for this one. Also ... major props are due to Sanchez as he will be a fine QB in the league. But Belichick ruined every great QB in this league early in ther careers ... Sanchez is next up to bat.

Prediction ... 3 Int's minimum - 2 by Meriweather as he ruins Sanchez single handedly.

I hate the Patriots!!! - TheGangGreen.com Message Board

^ this thread is amazing. Does ANYONE here have THIS intense of hatred for an opposing football team? I understand being passionate as a fan, but most of these people need to rethink their lives, and maybe go see a therapist.
The thread reads like a bunch of little girls at an unchaparoned pajama party, making fun of the older girls they desperately want to be like.

Three quarters of the posts call Pats fans bandwagon fans, and say that there are any Jets bandwagon fans. Well, yeah. When a team's last great accomplishment came months before the first lunar landing, there isn't much of a bandwagon to get on. It would be fair to say that all Jets and Lions fans are true diehard fans.

There was a lot of the usual disgusting calls for career-ending hits on Brady (I don't understand lowlifes who wish injury on others), but there was one funny line:

BB is a waste of skin.

Now Jet fan or no, that is a funny line.

Finally the media think we are not good enough to win! Remind me of 2001, 2003, 2004..

They were all over Tom Brady for going in the locker room instead of doing an interview, yet, Jets got fine for lying on Injury Report and nobody cares.

Good god. That Gang Green site is ridiculous. Easily the biggest bunch of tools ever assembled in one place that Ive ever personally witnessed. These guys must have been a riot last year with Favre.

As well as selective memory...

I'm always a little disappointed in Simmons. If you follow him closely, you can tell he's not nearly as good a fan as any of us here, and often is a few days behind certain signings, releases, etc.

He had to get Cuz Sal to talk him into the Pats. Whatever. I CAN'T wait for that final Brady kneel down (hopefully against Steelers) where the players start releasing held up emotion as we head back to the Superbowl, hopefully to face the Giants again.

In 2003 after week 2, the Bills were touted as a strong contender for the AFC title, not the AFC East title, but the AFC title while the Pats were considered to be an one year wonder and destined for a less than stellar season. Last year at the end of September, Tom Jackson proclaimed that Jay Cutler was a better QB than Tom Brady. Look how those turned out.

It is the media's job to make grandeous statements week in and week out. If the Pats win this weekend, the storyline will turn on a dime. There are few analysts that take a measured approach and don't make spur of the moment decisions on teams.

Too few patsfans that don't, either. Cracks me up. Let some troll make a foolish statement and the militia musters. Amongst themselves though they say the same damn things...the anti homer badge. LOL

I'm watching this again on NFLN and in hindsight, aside from the rust this coulda/woulda/shoulds been a 30+ pointer. Subtract the pick 6 and we roll over the valient Bills... The good news is Bill knows that and the players do too. They will react like they've been there, done that. Why it gets harder and harder for the fanbase to embrace that emotional plateau is beyond me.

I'm off to watch Tommy score 11 in under 4.

I would be bitter too if the Jets won three SB's in the past decade, won the division basically every year, beat us EVERY SINGLE game at our place, stole our HOF coach, while the Pats went through three or four false dawns within the same period, failed to win more than a couple of playoff games since the LBJ administration, and struggled to sell out the stadium that they shared with the Red Sox.

They need a life and lots of counseling too. Now they have a crazy azz coach leaving messages asking the fans to help him out, saying he's not as good a coach as BB. Must be something in the air below Connecticut that eats away at the rational portion of their brain.

Dude, you can put half of CT. on that list.....have you ever seen the underbelly of New Haven?

Nope, try to stay away from that part of the country, but duly noted.

so, which mediot is going to make headlines by saying that the Pats will win this week? seriously, this is all about airtime and clicks. why do people keep falling for this or even being bothered by it? yawn.....

Exactly. The thing is that there is no accountabilty for these media people. They can say what they want and no one goes back and calls them on it. But of course if they make a bold statement and turn out to be right, they will never let you forget it. By saying the Jets have a great chance to win the AFC East right now will allow someone to toot their horn if they actually do, but have that statement long forgotten if the Jets finish 6-10.

According to someone at practice today for the Jests, maybe it was in the practice report, Jenkins has already tweaked his back, which has issues.

Don't wish injury on anyone, but this could be good news for us.

I hope TFB and the boys are on point from play #1 this week, and embarrass them 56-13......and shut that assclown and the rest of those losers up.

Hell, you would think NE lost by three touchdowns as much furor as there is on this site.

Now, what does all this remind me of?

hmmm.....

Oh yes, I remember. The week before this game. NE had just looked listless and uninspired against a pretty pathetic team. This pathetic team took advantage of a weakness most agreed could be a potential achiles heel for the Patriots. The Jets were coming off an impressive victory over a moderately well regarded opponent and appeared to have NE right where they wanted them.

The only thing was, they got their arses kicked.

NE was never in a weakened state, they simply had a bad game. Just like that long ago Miami loss on Monday night, other than a couple key mistakes, NE largely controlled the action. Sure, Matt Light looked like trash against Jason Taylor, but he always looks like trash against Jason Taylor.

Admittedly, the Pats played the underneath stuff horribly this past week. Superficially, Leon Washington looks like he is going to get at least 300 yards on screens and draws. But there was a reason the underneath was so open, NE used both safeties to double TO and Evans all game. Buffalo wisely just went were there was a lone defender trying to cover a lot of ground, and a backup lone defender at that.

But are the Jets anywhere near as much a threat on the outside? Doesn't it make sense that NE might just alter their defense a little to combat NY's primary assets, their RBs?

And as bad as NE's OL looked at times, NE still went up and down the field on Monday. The difference between their struggles to get to 25 points and them putting 40+ up was very small. Very small.

Unless you assume what we saw out of them two days ago was the best they've got, it is going to take a monumental defensive effort for NY to hold the Patriots under 20 points. Hell, even Ryan's 2007 Ravens that Breer mentions above allowed 27 points on a rainy, windy night. And that includes them mugging Welker on every snap and Watson dropping an easy TD.

Listen to this BB interview with the 2-6 boys over on WEEI starting at the 18:30 mark. Does he sound concerned to you?

BB all but comes out and says that NY didn't do anything impressive, it was just that Houston was completely inept. He appears to really be giving it to the Houston coaching for an idiotic approach to stopping NY's blitz. It reminds me of BB going out of his way prior to the 2006 AFCCG to show that Indy's defensive "improvement" was really a combination of poor coaching and execution by the opponents.

I will be shocked if NE puts up less than 24 points and I will be genuinely surprised if they don't slap a 30-spot on the board.

The last time NE lost to the Jets in NY was 2000. The Jets have snuck off with a W a few times this decade against the Patriots, but it was always in NE. The Patriots have owned the Meadowlands.

Forgive me if I am not cowering in the corner at the thought of the big, bad New York Jets.

This is some of the best analysis/opinion I've read on here in a while. You bring up some very good points, Oswelk.
