you clearly are not getting that I would be suprised to see them trade someone they acquired with in the last few months.

and since you dont want to buy the fact that there is a reason they wanted Lewis maybe you will buy the fact that it would be hard to sell a player to another team that you gave up on before he even played a down for you.

Except that it wouldn't be because "they'd given up on him."

To take an absurd example, if someone offered a first-rounder for Lewis, BB would probably drive Lewis to Logan personally.*

While I'm not expecting that to happen, I could see a WR-needy team contacting the Pats about taking Lewis off their hands; if the Pats got at least a fifth in return, then they're coming out in pretty good shape.

*OK, so he'd probably have Caserio do it. . . .

Really? How is that a pearl of wisdom? If anything, it ranked right up there with all of your ignorant posts. Slater is one of the best special teamers the Pats have. And his ability will be even more important now that the 3 man wedges have been made illegal.

Hmm.. He's one of the best special teams players that the Pats have, yet, according to you, he sux? Because of ONE bad play. I guess the Pats should get rid of Moss, Welker, and Morris to. I mean, if Moss and Welker hadn't dropped passes against the Chiefs, Brady wouldn't have ever gotten hit the way he did.

We'll see if Nunn (or Edleman) can beat out Lewis for the #4 wide receiver position. The #5 and #6 positions are really illusions. The #5 receiver catches almost no balls during the season (check out the 2007 and 2008 stats).

I don't have Slater making the team. I have Aiken, Banta-Cain, Jones, and Ciurciu as my four top special teamers (not counting the K, P and LS). I have Slater, Ventrone and Alexander on the outside looking in. I would not be surprised to see any of those three on the 53 man roster if there are injuries.

kelly washington had 1 catch in his 2 years with the pats for 3 years and he was the #5 receiver so u sir are absolutly correct, but the #4 position still had an impact not to the same extent of the #2, or #3 but none the less the #4 receiver in 07 ( stallworth i believe ) was felt

I think he belongs because his performance in college as a STer warranted he get a shot, because he is versatile playing on most STs units, because he was second in STs tackles on a one of the best special teams units, because he is fast, and he offers some skills as an iron man player coming in competing with the WRs and DBs (though he seems to only be working with the DBs).


I do want to add one thing to this post...He is just a a STer so if someone who can play with the regulars is better he might not make it and this was in response to someone who said he didn't even belong in the NFL period. I think he makes the squad.

I agree that we should have a solid #4 receiver in case of injuries. As I said the issue is whether Edleman or Nunn can beat out Lewis for the #4 WR position.

I don't think that they are equipped to beat out Aiken for special teams captain and leader.
