Butler's interception = best play in the history of all sports...and they may be understating it.;)

Larry Bird to DJ was better. All the Pistons had to do was get the ball in play.

The Patriots played for 40 years before Tom Brady was drafted and I'm thinking that they just may have had a clutch play or two made during those years. Perhaps the thread should be renamed "Your Top 10 Most Clutch Plays under Bill Belichik"?

Your top 10 can be anything you want. I stated that mine were solely from seasons in which they won the SB, simply because there would be too many to choose from otherwise.

kicking a 48 yarder is not as clutch as the read and move that butler made....in fact, vinatieri's kick against the raiders in the snow was more clutch than the SB kick

Geezer Alert!

Steve Grogan running the naked bootleg against the NY Jets in 1985 to turn the season around after he took over for Tony Eason the previous week. That win put the Patriots on track to be the first team ever to win three playoff games on the road to reach the first Super Bowl in team history. (They got clobbered by the Chicago Bears.)

That was a magical year. Squish The Fish. 59 rushing plays against the Oakland Raiders in the playoffs. Stanley Morgan. Good times.

The 85 Bears had the best defense that I've ever seen, and I started watching during the Jim Brown era. The Pats were the only team to score a point against them in the playoffs. In their regular season game during the season the Pats only crossed midfield once, and that was on a long TD run by Craig James.

The magical part as you say was in the AFC. They also had a couple of strange TDs that were scored by the Pats kickoff team in the Raiders and Dolphins games.

Agreed about the 85 Bears defense. I used to enjoy watching them play that year. I was not happy when it became obvious we were going to play them in the Super Bowl!
I remember the Bears flubbed the opening kickoff and we got a field goal out of it. For a brief moment I thought maybe magic was about to happen. Then reality came crashing down.

I would be lying if I said I remember the naked bootleg by Grogan. I do remember the three straight playoff wins. I also remember Matt Millen hitting Pat Sullivan with his helmet on the field after the win. Good times!

Adam Vinatieri's kick to tie the game in the snow bowl not in top 10? It should probably be #1, 2 or 3

I thought things were in good shape until Dawson went down. The roof caved in after that.

Snowbowl kick should be #2. Good list though. Butler's play might be the most clutch in NFL history and Adam's kick was the best.
