They retain their logo and uniform. Thus, their identity.I'll add Dallas, for being given such an extraordinary amount of national broadcast coverage while simultaneously being such a mediocre team.
This is a franchise that has not won a divisional round game in thirty tears - Thirty Years!!!! - yet they are still televised nationally nearly every week of every season, year after year after year.
As a fan of pro football, I want to see quality teams and quality matchups - which should automatically disqualify the decrepit Jerrah's team. But instead, I guarantee next year that there will be a Cowboys-Giants game broadcast in an exclusive (prime time or 4:30) time slot.
They didn't banish Bob Hayes, Bob Lilly, Dandy Don, Roger Dodger, Tom Landry, Touchdown Tony Dorsett, Jimmy or Emmitt into the "rearview mirror" because the star is "not historically accurate" and replace it with something more "modern".
Pat Patriot and primary red jerseys never symbolized losing, futility, ineptitude or humiliation. Only to media, opponents and misguided supposed team fans.
They actually represent(ed) us, the entire New England region, mostly success on the field for its first three decades (more than most teams), and an endless list of heroes, like Gino Cappelletti, Larry Eisenhauer, Babe Parilli, Houston Antwine, Jim Nance, Jim Lee Hunt, Jon Morris, Len St. Jean, Julius Adams, John Hannah, Leon Gray, Darryl Stingley, Steve Grogan, Mosi Tatupu, Russ Francis, Stanley Morgan, Ray Clayborn, Mike Haynes, Sam Cunningham and Steve Nelson, to name a few.
I never judged a local Boston sports team or its athletes by the owner or the owner's behavior.
Someday, an owner of the Patriots may decide to stop capitulating to Ben Satan Dreith and the Nation Of (Baseless) Patriots Detractors And Denigrators and simply accurately dismiss all of them as full of sh*t.
