WTF Wilfork?

I like Big Vince the Enforcer. The penalties didn't affect the outcome of the game, and didn't come at critical situations so I don't mind them. He can't do that in the 4th quarter of playoff games, though.

As for the reputation thing, I think his reputation on the field is more important than what ESPN says. It's not like he's getting arrested, he's playing hard, and out-toughing the other guy, which is what you're supposed to do.

I was at the game and denver was doing a lot of pushing and hitting after the whistle espesialy #74 and #50. Besides Wilfork was prob reacting to the cut blocking that denver is notorious for, just before the first one he got right up into the ref's face upset with the play of #50. Granted he needs to be smarter about this stuff, if he feels the offensive line is taking liberties he has every right to stand up for himself the ref stood there in his little white hat and watched wilfork be tackled to the ground time and time again and kept his flag in his pocket.

People I know who went last night said exactly the same thing. There was a LOT more jawing etc that went on that wasn't necessarily shown on TV as part of the broadcast. Rodney and Big Vince bore a lot of it.

Agreed nobody likes to see us rack up penalties but sometimes our guys gotta do what our guys gotta do to in order to get their point across Sometimes the risk of a penalty is worth shutting your opponent up. It's no secret to BB that Big Vince can and WILL retaliate, same with most all of our D. I'm glad they played that way-sometimes things like that spark up the team and rally the fans.

Now some of us decide to bash the D for penalties just ONE WEEK after we've bashed them for playing like gridiron ghosts. It's not as if Vince's going out there every week and getting game-changing penalties, geesh.

Man what was that? Taking a swing and poking a guy in the face? Between this, the questionable Losman hit and poking Brandon Jacobs in the eye last year, I hate to admit it but on the field Vince is kinda an a hole

He's a nose tackle, being a bit of an A/h goes with the job.
Doesn't want O linemen thinking he's a big softy now does he.

What are some of you guys complaining about? I wish I can see this sort of intensity every week from our defense. I, for one, loved the "unneccessary roughness" penalties (only because we were ahead by a comfortable margin)... especially after watching the Chargers out hit us and knock us around like battered women last week.

Vince is coming on the Dale & Holly show in a few minutes and they plan on asking him what provoked him last night. They seem to think there's more to the story than what we saw on TV.

Trying to stir it up huh? Go back to your Bills board. :banned:

I guess here eveyrone is forgetting that the Patriots were playing Denver last night. You know, Denver, the absolute kings of the cut blocks (they even got called for at last night, for once). Now imagine if you feed your family (insert Ty Law quote here) by playing football, and you have just spent 60 minutes with 280lbs guys diving at your knees all night, it might tend to put you in a fowl mood. If you Tivoed the game, wathc and see how many times the center was engaged with Vince up high, and one of the guards hit him down low, I guarentee that is why Vince got pissed.

Vince by all account is a very nice guy, he does alot for charity, and is a family man (yes, even back when he was at the "U") so I don't think that the "U" sticks to him.

Seriously, Why would anyone purposely pizzz -off Wilfork. Unless you have, A) A huge life insurance policy. or B) Suicide wish. Welcome to the NFL.

I'm guessing he gets a game off to think about it.

Yes a penalty is bad. But backing down to the opponent is worse. If you lose mentally, you're going to lose physically. I don't like to see retaliation in critical downs or near the end of a game that hurt the team. But in this case, it didn't hurt the team so I don't think we need to make too much out of it. I'm sure BB talked it over with Wilfork to keep a cooler head on his shoulders.

Granted I'd rather him not do those things, it brings unecesarry attention but that touching the faces of players is just to annoy them. Imagine if somebody poked your face in that manner, it'd annoy the sh!t out of you.

I don't know.... I guess I got voted down b/c I'd rather have him not do things which could end up costing the team in the future.

I forgot there's a segment out there who likes this kind of stuff.

It happens when your team is ahead. It's not like he does it every game. It's good to win.

The Giants game in Week 16 last year is the ONLY example I can think of where it cost us in the game. That was only because the game was so close though.

That type of nonsense shouldn't be tolerated, it's done only for the player's ego at the expense of the team. These guys get paid to be professionals, is it too much to expect them to act like one?

I have no issues with him

Regardless of what set Wilfork off, he does need to play smarter than that. Those back-to-back penalties put the ball on the 20 rather than midfield, which could have been extremely important in most games.

Agreed. It's not a "rush to judgment" to say you can't lose your cool enough to give the other team 30 yards. I'm sure there was plenty of nastiness leading up to it, but that doesn't make it ok. The last thing you want is to get a reputation for rising to the bait -- that just encourages future opponents to provoke you all the more.

Exactomundo.

Denver got a chop block penalty later.....Vince got no further penalties.

Vince has a reputation and so does the Denver line.
