Oh, I'm willing to give him and Sanu a mulligan - Sanu because he's been successful elsewhere and learning an offense midseason is tough, and Harry because he's got talent. But you have to look at them as your 3 and 4 guy next year, and there's still a desperate need for a 1A type guy, especially with Edelman aging fast. Harry could become that but you don't want to count on it.

That said, there aren't many free agents who fit the bill. AJ Green, Amari Cooper, Antonio Brown... that's it. Beckham may be available by trade but the price will be high (that said, he's the most talented receiver in football, just 27, and will be cheap by WR1 standards at $15m if you trade for him; Green and Cooper will probably need more than that to sign.)

Seeing Metcalf dominate that first playoff game sucked.

Sadly we could have had Harry and Metcalf. I like Joejuan Williams but he's likely to be buried on the depth chart again in 2020.

I will be absolutely ecstatic if Williams is buried in the depth chart in 2020. As of now, we could lose McCourty, McCourty, and Chung.

More likely is that we will need Williams.

No, he wasn't. That's kind of the point, really. If the problem had been Brady, we wouldn't need to rail against WR depth issues.

Honestly, I'd be a lot more concerned with Edelman's age than Brady's. He is very old for that position. It's a miracle he played so well this year. But he got destroyed in the process, which could be attributed to age as well. So this receiving corps could suddenly be much worse than we already think it is if Edelman starts playing his age.

Unless Williams is moving to Safety, two of those are irrelevant. And even if J. McCourty leaves, Williams would still just be the 4th CB. This was a luxury pick for a team with too many holes for luxuries. Same with Harris.

Given Michel's play, and injury history, and Burkhead's injury history, I'm not sure I'd look at Harris as a luxury pick.

He had 4 carries this season. He was a luxury pick with Michel, Burkhead, White, Bolden.

When you are inactive 15 out of 17 games, you are a luxury pick.

Not necessarily. You can also be an insurance policy combined with a future prospect. And that's likely how Harris was viewed.

Call it what you want, it was a horrible pick given our real needs.

Having a RB in place, in case of Burkhead/Michel going down, was an obvious need, given the injury history and/or situation of both players.

Nonsense. Players don't share the irrational disdain for Stidham that many on this board have.

You have a method of evaluation with which I strongly disagree. I do NOT think that rookies should be evaluated by how much they contribute, or even play, during their rookie years. Sometimes a player who is insurance simply isn't needed.

Amazing how people can already call the 2019 draft a failure.

In 2018 Patterson ended up being the starting RB at times due to multiple injuries. Team stayed relatively healthy at the position in 2019 so Harris did not play. If Pats could have just known in advance what positions would have been healthy they could have adjusted their draft strategy accordingly. Something for BB to work on this year.

I think what most are failing to see or don't know is NE probably has a 50-150 player board they're working off of.

They aren't looking at every single prospect during the draft. They crave up a board based on who the like & work off that.
