For the Superbowl to be between the Pats and Giants? While every other team was resting during the last couple games of the season the Pats and Giants played to the very end. They gave us a game to remember in Week 17 when they could have pulled a Dungheap and sent out the backups.

Both teams deserve it for reminding people how football should be played. I hope the Giants make it to face us once again.

I predict that they will.

I think it would be totally hilarious to have a rematch of the most meaningful meaningless game in history.

Yeah that myth about resting your starters in week 17 is complete BS. They just have one less game to practice and fine tune everything, and when they come back they're rusty and even more prone to injury. It's not the same as the bye week because they still have to travel and do all the things they normally would before a game, and then sit on the bench. I'm surprised no one has figured this out yet.

"Sweet Justice" would be to beat GB and Favre in the SB this year and the Bears next year, to avenge past SB losses.

then, there's that. i would love for brady to throw a touchdown then run around the field with his helmet off, violating the brett favre rule.

I don't know if the week 17 game will serve as a template for other teams in the future given how unique it was (team going for 16-0, shown on three networks) but at the very least the Giants and Pats have shown that there are no meaningless games after the pre-season. People didn't understand "sixty minutes" until the Patriots actually had to play a whole game against some unlikely opponents but it has paid off thus far. I'd love for Sammy Morris and Rosie Colvin to have not been injured, but it happens, and the guys that are still standing are ready mentally and physically for whatever is in store.

Unless Desmond Howard shows up and gets hit while standing on the sidelines I will never truly feel avenged, hehe.

I just want a SB victory and I don't feel like 2 weeks of Favre ball washing.

The other "fun factor" involving a Pats/Giants matchup is that it would be especially painful for Jets fans to watch. They'd have to watch the team they share a stadium with and compete with for local bragging rights compete against their biggest and most hated rival. It supports the idea that the Jets fan is karmacally (sp?) f.cked for their behavior this season. First they cheered when noodles got injured. Then they sued Belichick over spygate. They openly wish evil on Brady and Belichick. They're a classless fanbase and the Football Gods can't stand them. The Football Gods were so upset that they conspired with the Baseball Gods to take down the Mets and Yankees. The Mets collapse was especially painful to the Jets fan as most Jets fans root for the Mets.

Anyhow, let's go Giants and Pats!

That would definitely be ''Sweet Justice''.I can see it now (Brady vs Farve). The SB ratings would go through the roof.It really doesn't matter who we play. All of my attention is focused on Chargers right now.Go Pats!

As I said in another thread before I saw this one, I think the Giants have a decent chance of getting to the SB.

Especially if the cold front projected here for next weekend happens and hits Wisconsin too. Did you see how bad GB looked in the extreme cold in Chicago in week 15 when they got blown out, while they were still fighting for home field advantage?

Though maybe GB was smarter than everyone and knew they would get the NFGCG at home anyway

I will be rooting for the Giants in the NFCCG, but not for that reason. I want to hear, "There is a Manning is going to the Superbowl and his first name isn't Peyton."

I don't want this to happen, because right now the Pats have a substantial advantage in that they're one of the only teams that realizes that maintaining your edge > rest, for the most part, and it gives them an advantage in the playoffs.

I think it'd be better to play the Packers and get revenge for 1996. It would draw alot more attention than playing the Giants, and in my opinion probably a better game.

Revenge???? we only have two players still on our roster from back then...

I want a Brady - Manning superbowl. The ultimate insult to Peyton.

Yeah, then if the Pats put up a huge lead over the Bears, we could have Wilfork run one in to rub their faces in it.

The Bears? Some of the players were still in diapers when the Patriots lost to the bears. Get over that loss by now.

Yikes! I was practically in diapers at the time. Sorry, I mistakenly was going for a bit of humor there.

I hope that happens also. I've been rooting for the Giants since that game. Their fans were all pretty cool and I'm happy for Tom Coughlin. Tom Coughlin was taking a lot of heat for playing his starters that game. I bet he has no regrets.

I agree, I think it has made a difference. He went old school in that game and I think he sparked something in his team. There is something to be said for playing for the love of the game and playing for nothing other than pride and history.

Look at all the teams that rested their starters the last couple weeks, Tampa Bay, Dallas, Indy....all 1 and done.
