Words on things I watched, read & heard

Yeah I agree, I did think we would draft some DT last year. It seems we did not go for this position on an early round for quit some time now, added some FA who were injured and not exactly one of the most stout players upfront more rotational. I hope we adress this position via Butler Guy some draft run stop stud or another FA. We badly need a NT, idk if Allen will be healthy, don't want to see Cowart at the nose

Edit: just curious. What do you think of maybe Derek Wolfe as a run stopping 5 t. He shouldn't be too expensive right. And i would prefer to sign a NT cause they might be cheaper for good value than other position, and focus on other position via draft
I hope that Allen will start at NT. I agree that I don't to start Cowart at NT. I also expect us to re-sign Guy and Butler.

I hope we have at least some competition there with another stud NT. I hope he will be healthy and can provide nice depth and might even start, I honestly don't know what to expect from him

I hope we resign both, as well. Both are good at what they are doing for us and know the system. As much as i would like to sign a Leonard Williams type of stud upfront I would rather use the money for WR/TE to boost our offense

There will be another biggie, but I'm not sure that Bill will sign a stud NT if he thinks that Allan can start. I'm fine with re-signing Guy, re-signing Butler, and signing a NT to compete with or backup Allan (this player wouldn't cost a lot. If Bill doesn't like Allan, he can cut him and sign a starting NT.

Agree, but he did not practice that much and need to see how his condition is after this year injured.

Yeah we can't rely just on Allen, the NT is too valuable for this. We need a reliable player there with not much injury history like concussion Carl Davis. Even if we draft one later we need another fattie. Would be nice if Allen can start cause gives us cheap help at much needed position

I agree but I think the direction I would like to see that Patriots go is a patient one. Rebuild the rest of the team with the draft and cap space.

If the draft plays out the way some think, there will be, as you already know, a heavy push for QBs for many teams. Some teams need a QB now while others in the next couple of years but because next year's draft doesn't seem to have any blue chip QBs they'll try to get one this year.

If that's true I'd imagine a typical top 5 or 10 skill guy may fall to 15. Which would be getting much more value for that pick.

Another thought would be that the fifteenth pick might get more value trade-wise than in other drafts because of the QB run and BB could get a lower first and a second etc etc..

My hope is that he uses it for a NT or WR.

Mariota would be just taking a flyer on a QB that has shown upside flashes. But giving him a shot + your guy Brady Davis ( I like this idea btw) + Stidham + whomever is the way I'd like to see them go this year.
I've already mentioned that I think that unless one of the big 4 drops to 10 and that who the Pats are enamored with, I don't see them drafting a QB until late, if at all. I think 3 of the first 5 picks will be DL/OL/LB in no particular order. The depth of QB for NEXT year's draft stands to be deeper than this year, unless something major happens.

I think that Bill isn't going to take a chance and that he will add another NT. I don't think he'll care what Allen's status is. Having 2 capable NT is better than none.

Yeah i like Dugger. He is a good tackler and with his athletic he helps our run defense a lot. I like to use him as a blitzer more often. I would like to see some coverage improvement which did not concern me so far cause coming from D2 school is a huge difference
It should be a concern. Dugger was bad in coverage and I’m not sure stepping up from D2 is the reason. Does not look all that fluid in his movement skills to me. Hope I’m wrong.

amen brother. He looked like he was over thinking and not reacting fast enough.

typical life as a rookie in the patriots defense.

Dugger wasn't "bad" in coverage. The kid didn't even let up a TD in his first season compared to a "Pro-Bowler" who allowed 6 of them.. *cough*...

Yes, 24 of 33 passes against him were completed for a 72.7% completion rating. Those 24 passes accounted for 237 yards or 9.9YPC. Again, ZERO TDs. The bigger issue was he had 7 missed tackles. This is where we'll need to see the biggest improvement as he develops. Also, keep in mind that Dugger only saw 518 defensive snaps. He also played on Special teams seeing 182 snaps there.

I'm in. But I've wanted an additional NT since Wilfork left.

i agree. Bb will not get caught without depth in the defensive line spots or linebackers spots again. He will load up this offseason.

This is completely correct IMO.

I don't want Lord Byron the Coward playing NT, at all - starting or otherwise...I also want to see Guy & Butler re-signed, if the prices are right...
But Fat Thor feckin sucks...Always has...The sooner he & his contract are outta the building, the better-off we'll all be.

He was bad considering he was defending team's 4th or 5th option. PFF graded him out among the worst at 69 out of 91 S's. In addition, he had one measly pass breakup this year. Right now, he's not a game changer in any way. No forced fumbles in either the run or pass.

See from @Brandon_Cox below:

ESPN did an analytics breakdown of the rookies drafted by each team. Here are 2:

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Why they're ranked here: The Bucs hit home runs with offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs (No. 13 overall) and safety Antoine Winfield Jr. (45th overall). Wirfs put up historically good numbers in pass protection, and Winfield finished the regular season as one of the five most valuable rookies from the 2020 class, per PFF WAR.

How their top pick fared: Wirfs wasn't just the best rookie tackle from the 2020 class; he was among the best we have ever seen in the PFF era. The former Iowa Hawkeye led all right tackles in pass-block grade and finished No. 2 among all rookie right tackles in that metric since 2006 (Marshal Yanda, 2007, is No. 1).

Best value pick: Landing Winfield in the middle of Round 2 is the true definition of getting value. He provided a productive presence as a blitzer in Todd Bowles' defense with nine pressures on 58 rushes -- two of which were strip sacks -- and he was among the best at his position against the run. Winfield finished the regular season with the second-highest run-defense grade at his position.

13. New England Patriots

Why they're ranked here: Bill Belichick found another gem in the sixth round with Michigan offensive lineman Mike Onwenu, who produced the sixth-most PFF WAR of any non-first-round pick this season.

How their top pick fared: Kyle Dugger (No. 37 overall) came into the league facing a steep learning curve out of Division II Lenoir-Rhyne, but the safety held up in his first year at the NFL level against the run. His 73.6 run-defense grade placed him 17th among all safeties this season. He faltered in coverage, though, with a 55.4 grade in that facet (69th of 91). That was the leading factor in him generating negative PFF WAR.

Best value pick: Onwenu might just end up as the biggest steal in the entire 2020 draft when we look back on this class. Onwenu logged over 80 snaps at each of left guard, right guard and right tackle this season, and he performed well at all of them. The sixth-round pick posted a 79.0-plus grade at each of those three alignments. Onwenu excelled at right tackle in particular, despite not logging a snap at tackle in his four years at Michigan. He spent most of his rookie campaign there (616 snaps) and ranked 10th of 39 qualifying right tackles in PFF grade.

Few things here ...
Real "tough" guys don't push or yell or try to act bad by getting loud or w/e. I'm over 30 so fighting unless absolutely necessary is embarrassing but always throw the first punch or eye rake or ball grabbing. These poor bastards just had no clue what was coming. Also I'm a big believer in judging a book by its cover. I'm dead serious, I think you can tell a lot of first appearances, body language, they way someone carries themselves. Tell me who would you rather fight here? The guys that take as long as the girls to get ready or the goofy looking kid with curly hair, cowboy boots and a sweatshirt at a club?
The db getting his arse handed to him is Spencer Jones (WR) from OK.
