I don’t even think it was his decision-making, I just think he was beyond frustrated..
Not decision making either, he just got jittery in the pocket last year. Didn't trust the protection, wasn't willing to stand in there to take a lick. Happened to Favre in his last year with the Vikings as well. You start speeding up your process, you go to the checkdown earlier, you pass on windows because you think you'll get clobbered if you hold the ball an extra 0.3 seconds to deliver the pass. You feel the hits you take at 45 a whole lot more than the ones you take at 28. Add to that a divorce and the knowledge you won't be coming back to play the following year and Tom was in a "not worth taking a shot under the chin for this" mode all year. The fact that the OL all got injured and then played like crap didn't help either, but it was mostly mental. He can still spin it better than most of the guys starting now.
