You want an example of true class when your record is broken? Terry Bradshaw on Sunday night watched as TFB broke a tie between himself, Bradshaw and Montana as the only guys with 4 Super Bowl rings as quarterback. Bradshaw seemed genuinely happy for Brady and the Patriots.....

He is. Terry's always been one of the good guys.

On 9/29/74, before watching a shutout home loss to the Raiders from the sidelines, Bradshaw asked Al Davis, "Can you get me out of here?" Al apologized, explaining he already had too many quarterbacks on his roster. Terry resigned himself to the reality which is the business of the NFL, but he still retained his passion and love for the game, and it worked out pretty well for him.

I actually agree with the idea of a change, though given present teams, the Paul Brown Trophy would seem rather oddly named.

Nah. Just keep it as the Lombardi. It would be confusing if Belichick had 7 Lombardi's and 3 Belichicks.

If they wanted to name something after Belichick, it should be the coach of the year award since he is always the coach of the year every year but they won't choose him just because he can't technically take a 4-12 team to be 12-4.

Good idea, I think they should name the coach of the year award after Belichick.

Actually if you asked Bill who the Trophy should be named after, he'd probably say Paul Brown, who actually WAS the most infuential HC in NFL history. The only reason it was named after Lombardi was that at the time they named it after him he had just had his great run and died from cancer.

If you wanted to be a ****, you can say Lombardi never won a Lombardi because in the 2 that he won, the trophy was calles something else. I can't even vaguely remember, and don't even care enough to look it up.

Two last points. BB would be the first to veto any move to change it. And the fact is that when Lombardi won his 3 straight NFL titles, it was a 12-14 team league and the playoffs consistent of one game, IIRC.

How about the Modells?? Art Modell is the only guy to fire guys with a total of 12 championships and 8 NFL championships (PAul Brown had 4 in AAFC and 3 in NFL) and BB has 5 NFL titles.

Its time we change the Super Bowl trophy to The Bill Belichick Trophy....because Bill has quite the modesty and humbleness we all know and love about him,he would probably object to the change, but I think the NFL should seriously consider the name change....

Vince Lombardi was a legendary coach but Bill Belichick's time has come to take the only title he has yet to acheive in football..the title of greatness engraved on what is rightfully his now as best ever.

I assume any discussion related to this will commence once BB hangs up his headset and Microsoft tablet but its something I expect to see and with much reason of him deserving this honor... hopefully Goodell will be long gone by then who would stop such a change.

Timing is a huge part of the reason for the name of the trophy. This will not only NEVER happen but will never be discussed beyond just the sort of sports jock jovial banter. It is a non serious topic.
