Gotta move the big guy inside. That SB performance? Mark Morse excuses it by saying he was playing on one leg. Isn't that the OL coach, Dougie Marrone, and his two or three acolytes job? To make sure their player can physically perform?

VLowe, esp in pass protection, would have played better.

If Campbell had wanted to throw the game in the Seahags favor, could he have improved on his play?

No. Never again. Unless it's an emergency. You're a guard now. Wanna try center?

Campbell's arms are just over 32"--Don't trust that homecooking measurement at his pro day--BUT more worrisome is his paltry 77" wingspan. Wingspan is the more important measurement of the two.

He's got some upper torso issue. I mean this is the shortest in nfl recorded history for an OT. This is short even for a QB.

He's like a Dr Frankenstein experiment. His lower half is immense and immensely powerful. Incredible athleticism on Thunder Thighs.

But his upper half is almost delicate. Feminine even. At least by OT NFL standards. (Some clever person might say Why don't you say that to his face.)

But that top half reminds me of the mom in the 1977 Triscuit commercial.

Length matters. The Patriots acknowledge that now. Just look at this year's draft.

That post got weird at the end. “Feminine” isn’t what comes to mind looking at Campbell’s body…but I don’t know what women look like where the OP lives in fairness.

That said, LG is probably a better fit for the youngster long term. But we’ll see.

Yeah, he looked good against Michael Clemons, didn't he?
Campbell graded out as the 39th rated OT of 89 OT's graded, as a rookie
He played over 1000 snaps, as a rookie, and played everyone of those snaps beside another rookie
His pass pro grade on the season was 77, which is very good (not elite)
at least let the kid get back to 100% health, and come back stronger and smarter.
if he plays poorly, then criticize. but you are criticizing him coming off a season that he played really well, when healthy

Never heard the Drew Bledsoe story about asking the ball boy during TC at Bryant College what position he played on his high school team?

I can’t wait to see a certain poster get triggered by this.

The Pats did him a disservice by putting him out there in the playoffs which immediately fueled the fire and even had the media ask whether he’ll lose his job after the Super Bowl. I’ve never seen the media embarrass a player that badly after a big game. Max Lane had it good compared to Campbell.

With that said, the Pats will do everything they can to keep him at LT, because moving him will just create another need. The ideal situation is Campbell and Lomu are the bookends for the next 10 years. But for some posters, they think these draft picks are bust proof because the Pats picked them.

Give the kid some time to develop. TB’s rookie year he played in one game, completing 1 pass out of 3 attempts for 6 yards, resulting in a passer rating of 42.4.

We still have guys writing Campbell off as a LT based on how he performed coming back from injury in his rookie year....against a series of dominant pass rushers?

We still have people who don't recognize it takes time to develop a tackle to NFL standards in terms of body composition and positional knowledge?

PATRIOTS FANS MOCKING A GUY'S BODY? You DO remember a certain GOAT's scouting combine pictures, right?

I just don't understand where this constant push to move him to guard is. I don't see it. At All. He plays very upright and a bit stiff and is a much better pass blocker then run blocker. I think he would be the exact same a little above average starter level player no matter where you put him and if that's the case then I'd rather have an above average LT then guard. I think he gets every chance to grow into his body and role this year, while Lomu gets to do the same as a swing and jumbo package 6th OL. Next year is the earliest IMO where it becomes a very interesting question who gets flipped to RT and I think Campbell will have to bomb pretty hard to not win the LT battle. Either way it's a very good problem to have two young athletic excellent pass protectors and we have an entire year to evaluate who is making the jump.

I was skeptical of Campbell but he impressed me until he got hurt. Lets not forget he came back way less then 100% vs the best the nfl has to offer. Also I think wills bread and butter is nasty run blocker, temperament. Attitude. This is how he fits Vrabels style of play. Honestly I think he would fit at RT to where caleb is the technician pass blocker better suited for LT. But I see this as a 2027 discussion. Chances are 2026 Campbell is the LT Moses the right caleb the swing. Unless the Pats trade Onwenu, AVT could be the RG then Campbell could move inside to LG but I see this as unlikely. Rookies are not finished products. Campbell showed me can play tackle in the nfl. I like these problems. Pats oline is getting better. Could be elite in another season. Side note. Onwenu is a good player he has his fans and detractors but he seems to be the odd duck of the group. Looks like Pats are building a line of athletic movers. I think its possible he gets traded or at the very least 26' might be his last as a patriot. I found it interesting that 2 players werent at the beginning of these 1st practices. Boutte who was reported to be on the trade block. And onwenu. Again I like both players just trying to read the tea leaves.

I remain of the opinion that Will looked good at LT before he got hurt, played hurt and looked terrible.

Question is how well the knee has/will heal. I don’t think we really see that until he’s up against NFL starters.

But I would say, if he ends up RT long term with Lou as LT, I don’t think that’s a failure

were you asleep before his injury?

He wasn't asleep, he simply hates Will Campbell and won't allow reality to get in the way of his garbage posts. The fact that State disappeared from this forum for the best part of a year, after ****ting all over Campbell, and predicting that Spencer Rattler would outplay Drake Maye shows that he knew just how embarrassing his takes had been. Then he tries to imitate Sam by starting flamebsit threads likes this one.

Against lesser competition. Then lost them all in a SB performance that was so very, very bad.

Ten years from now it'll be all that's remembered from that game.

yeah man don't know what to tell you besides be prepared to be disappointed.
