Some people here are probably happy.
what does this mean? Happy that most reports are saying mcl, probably a month but not season ending? Or Happy because they didn't like the Will Campbell pick?

Without an MRI? Wow amazing to know that.
There are multiple different tests you can do to assess the stability of a knee ligament, whether on the field or a clinic or training room. None are 100% sensitive or specific though, the ACL ones generally range from 80% to 95% depending on what articles you read, and all the tests are less good in acute knees soon after an injury. Its also hard to test stability on a huge guy with massive leg muscles like Campbell.

The staff doing them will have a decent idea based on the mechanism of what happened, post injury symptoms and tests; however you are right the MRI is the gold standard to show exactly what the damage is throughout the knee and guide the next steps.

For what its worth (which isn't much based off a 3 sec clip) the side on video on this thread seems to show a valgus force, which is more commonly associated with MCL injury, and the foot was only momentarily stuck in the ground, but he has very big dudes off their feet crashing into the knee at speed. The question is what grade, and is the meniscus and/or ACL damaged as well, which may or may not be the case. Only the MRI will reveal that.

Here's hoping for a best case grade 1 or 2 MCL and back for the playoffs (or just before). Worse case unholy triad including ACL and IR.

Take this for what it's worth some of us old goats might remember. The first year we got Vrabel I remember in TC he was Carted off with what seemed like a significant leg injury. Which in the end turned out to something less worse than it originally seemed. Hoping for the same with our Young Lineman fingers crossed.

I'm hoping Rookie Marcus Bryant learns fast he played LT @ Missouri opposite Armand Membou.
Lowe is gonna be the LT.

Marcus Bryant is our only RT backup. So if you start Bryant at LT and Moses has to leave the game that means that you have to put Bryant at RT and Lowe at LT. That mean changes to two position on the OL instead of one. You don’t want that

If the coaches think Bryant would be better than Lowe at LT they’ll play him there. You don’t weaken the lineup you field in order to save a better player as a backup who might not play.

Wallace could serve as RT backup. He’s listed on the team roster as OT.

Or perhaps Lowe could play RT? Lowe was suggested as a swing tackle candidate in his pre draft reviews, but I don’t know if he’s worked on that side at all.

Or, they activate Gutierrez from the PS as backup RT.

If Campbell and Wilson just have sprains that’s some good news. Milton Williams will be back by week 17. We have a Monday night game so there’s an extra day of rest this week, the middling Giants, then a bye the following week.

The O Linemen shouldn’t be gone long and Marcus Bryant could use some snaps before the playoffs in case he is needed.

I wonder what happened to Schooler and the others who got dinged up, the list was long.

I’m not making any assumptions about the severity of injuries to either Campbell or Wilson until we hear the results of the MRIs.

I am assuming they’ll both be out until after the bye, possibly longer.

From circumstances it seems Campbell’s injury is likely more serious than Wilson’s.

IIRC Wilson was reported to have an ankle injury, with the question being whether it’s a high ankle sprain, a regular sprain, or something else, and the severity of whatever it is.

Seems Wilson could be back for the Buffalo game if it’s not too bad, out longer if it’s a high ankle sprain or anything severe.

Campbell’s likely to be out longer, no telling how much longer until we hear the MRI results.

Even if Bryant was better than Lowe at LT it wouldn’t be by a huge margin and it would be smaller than the gap between Bryant and anyone that they would bring up to fill in at RT. Lowe can’t play RT, Wallace has repped all TC as a guard and this coaching staff doesn’t see him as a RT.

In my opinion it wouldn’t be worth it to weaken significantly your RT backup spot to gain a minimal upgrade at LT.

The reality is that Lowe only role on this team is as the backup LT. If Bryant was better than him Lowe wouldn’t be on this team.

The silver lining is that they should both be back for the playoffs if everything we're seeing is accurate.

But to say 'they won't be gone long' is pretty ambitious. It's far more likely we're dealing with Lowe and Brown on the left side for the rest of the regular season. An MCL sprain is still a tear, and will be 4-6 weeks on the low end, and a high ankle sprain for Wilson (which is what it looked like) is around the same timeframe.

And we won't know anything for sure until the MRIs are complete.

In my opinion a significant upgrade at LT would be worth a weaker OT backup situation.

Truth is, neither one of us really knows how much difference there is between the two players, whether it would be a minimal upgrade or a significant upgrade at LT. Same is true about the backups.

We have opinions, but our opinions are not as well informed as the coaches who watch them closely every day in practice.

I’m going to trust that the coaches will field the lineup of players that they think give us the best chance to win. That may or may not correspond with who we as fans think is best.

Did not read all the posts in this thread, but were there any concerns about the Cincinnati playing surface??...
Seems as though there were an extraordinary number of injuries yesterday...
Schooler, WIlson and Campbell + probably a few more minor ones.

Obviously I’m no doctor, but if it is an MCL, maybe the foot not being planted on the ground saved him?

This victory has the most sour taste in a long time.

Really holding my breath for Will Campbell's injury to be a mild one and he can come back for the playoffs.

Although it became more difficult, the importance of getting a 1st round bye just increased a lot. Having this one extra week to heal is immense. (Also how insane it is that we are fighting for it this year?)

I for one will start hating a lot for the Broncos and Colts

Days like this I look at what these guys pony up to play the game and I'm far from jealous. Yay, everybody knows my name and they love me and I have no unmet financial needs, pretty much evah... meanwhile, pain...

Exactly: this situation makes that #1 Bye-Week an absolute "Must" now. It's not about getting in the playoffs now: We could have the Top Seed in the AFC.
