Wickersham book discussion

Another interesting point is that the alleged dust up between BB & Mangini happened 15 years ago, so all the coaches, wives and staff kept quiet up to now??? Or perhaps a guy said he heard a guy say...
Bill would smash that guy, this is so fake.

Yes - Herber and Tittle are most similar because they were established superstars. Tittle is closest because he was still playing at a Hall of Fame level.

A couple of other guys worth mentioning is Randall Cunningham going to the Vikings in 97 and taking them far, and then 15-1 in 98. And of course Brees. I forgot Brees took the Saints all the way to the NFCCG in his first year there in 2006.

Stafford will be interesting…I still think he’ll face plant when there’s adversity, but we’ll see. Rivers and Brady showed last year that these guys are what they are and not just some system.
Brees is the closest then. Took Aints to NFCCG his 1st year but lost. They had been to playoffs as recent as 2000. He didn't win there until 2009.

Bottom line it's not easy to do, so rare in fact, it was never done before.

The thought just occurred.

Brady the first year starting for the Pats, and his first start anywhere won a Superbowl.

Has any other QB won the Superbowl their first year starting as a QB?

If not that would mean Brady is not only the first QB to win their first year with a new team, but the first to win as a starter.

Man he really is the undisputed GOAT

So even if there is a video it for not honest reasons. I love how he connects the dots of BB beating the broncos on an intentional safety to shanahan kinda defending BB during spygate.

Kurt Warner.

Same old arguments in this threat.
I love it. Hahaha
I’ll say I’m happy the pats won six champs and went to 9. I give credit to every coach and player on those TEAMS

...and Bill Walsh as GM of the 49ers was awful.
“With the pick acquired in a trade with the New England Patriots, the San Francisco 49ers select Jerry Rice, WR Mississippi Valley State University”.

Trevor Matich for the greatest WR in NFL history. Yep, that’s one example of his awfulness.

1999-2000

Shortly after the 49ers’ Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Brady called his former teammate Wes Welker, according to a new book about the New England Patriots dynasty, “It’s Better To Be Feared,” by ESPN reporter Seth Wickersham.

Brady informed Welker, San Francisco’s wide receivers coach, if the 49ers were interested, he would finish his career in the Bay Area after 20 seasons and six Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots.

Little slut

So 30 pages on a Wickersham product. Okay. I mean fine, okay.

Kurt Warner.
Yep, pretty interesting that Warner was the first after 30 years and Brady did it only 2 years later.

It was a cool history lesson looking into it.

Jim Plunkett was interesting. Looked good for the Pats to start his career then he started to down trend. Was traded to the 49ers for 2 1st Rd picks. Won his first 8 games looking good then declined. Then ended up going to the Raiders and winning 2 Superbowls.

Just the prelude. Book comes out after the game next week. Butler thread will be dwarfed by the book one.

Just heard Wickersham say that things started to go south after SB 51. If Bill had committed to Brady for another 5 years at that point, all the acrimony could have been avoided.

Tommy: Jimmy G is the MFer
Kraft: Bill is a fv&king *******
Malcolm: Bill & Matt are Mfers
Bill: STFU
Mangini: FU Bill

So far this book is letting us know that everyone at Patriots Place has to wash their mouths out with soap.

It's always been a tense place... this team hates its coach.

If only Tom knew how the Statue of Liberty play works. Or is that McDaniels fault too. "Hey Tom, Malcolm's not playing, just let the defense strip you as the clock winds down, just like we drew it up. Well just blame Malcolm for it. **** I got loads of tape on how this game played out already, and I still can't find the play that Butler would have made a difference on. Apparently there's tons of witnesses, yet nobody can find it.".
If the Eagles game is proof that Belichek cost us a win because Butler didn't play, then I can find more examples of Brady letting BB down than a guy fighting with coaches and crying on the sidelines, in no position to play.
