Why would anybody want Belichick fired in favor of BOB?

6 Super Bowls...yeah he can stay as long as he wants IMO. Another unpopular opinion...BOB is a better choice as HC because his experience. He was a good HC at times..so was Bill with the Browns. I love Mayo...I use a boatload when I make Tuna fish. I think Mayo will be a very good HC but not yet.
Agreed, Mayo is definitely in the succession plan. I like mayo alot as well. BB has so much built up equity In the organization and so much power. I don't want Bill fired or not part of this organization until he feels it's time for him to retire. He has created the structure for the last 23 seasons. Bruschi said himself that even in the 6-10 season in 2000 that he felt the culture was better in the organization and locker room with BB.

@crawhammer it's your time to shine.

when the time does come, I do like Mayo, a lot. my one concern with Mayo would be his ability to put together a staff on the offensive side of the ball.
if RK made the decision to make a change after this year, and Mayo was the choice, would BOB stay on to work under Mayo?

It depends on when that time is. If it's after this year, I could see BOB sticking around for one more year as OC (he seems to like to give places at least two years before moving on). If BB has two more years, BOB would probably move on, especially if he gets another crack at a HC gig. But the hope there would be that someone on the staff has developed behind him, like Adrian Klemm (who they interviewed for the OC position as well), or the TE's coach, Lawing, who seems to be following O'Brien around.

This is assuming O'Brien doesn't take the entire offensive coaching staff with him to his next stop like McDaniels did.

I totally agree. I love Belichick and appreciate all he has done but the last 4 years he has been caught unprepared multiple times.

2019 - the team played without a legitimate tight end because they were unprepared to replace Gronkowski.
2020 - the team signed Cam Newton in June because they were not prepared to replace Brady.
2022 - Patricia as offensive coordinator because they were not prepared to replace McDaniels.

These things should not happen and 20 super bowls in previous years do not excuse them.
This has been my issue since Brady left. A complete lack of preparation and foresight by Bill. The whole "he had the guy to replace Brady but Brady outlasted him" argument isn't an argument to me. He traded Garoppolo on Halloween of 2017. Brady left in March of 2020. That left Bill with the 2018, 2019, and 2020 draft and free agency to find a suitable replacement. Instead Bill was content to go with Stidham (until he went to a wedding or something) or Hoyer until he decided to pick up a broken down Cam Newton for cheap.

Last year to me was a fireable offense. That was an experiment everyone except some of the most delusional homers on here knew would fail and we all had to sit back and watch it happen. The PFW guys said on the podcast that was the most disjointed and poorly ran offense they had ever seen last summer in a Patriots training camp and both Fred Kirsch and Paul Perillo have been watching every training camp for 20+ years. Every year for how many years was Josh interviewing for head coaching jobs? At least the last 5-6 before he finally went to Vegas. Bill couldn't find a single guy to groom for the OC role in all that time? He couldn't have done what is in the best interest of the team and gone after BOB a year earlier? No because that would upset his friend. Instead he puts Patricia in a position to fail, and fail miserably he did.

The lack of planning for the future, the somewhat convoluted rebuild, and then last years OC situation put the nail in the coffin for me. I really hope Bill can turn it around and we can be a legitimate playoff team this season but I doubt it. Mac has his third OC in 3 years and we didnt really upgrade the offense much outside of adding a receiving TE. Since Brady left Bill has done what we have laughed at other teams for doing all these years. Let assets walk for no return. Try to patch it together with an over the hill veteran QB. Tried to "win" free agency. Have the coach and QB in a pissing contest. Have no clear structure amongst the assistant coaches. I am obviously hoping to be wrong but I just see another 7-9 wins this year and the same old same old next offseason.

Belichick can be a bit frustrating at times but even if you wiped half of his football knowledge and experience away from his brain, he'd still be a better option than BoB, or taking a chance on an "up & coming" guy like Mayo or anyone else.

The dilemma we have is if Kraft fires Bill, are Mayo and BOB going to be any different in philosophy? Do they keep his son? That’s awkward if they do. That’s something I’m sure Kraft is thinking about.

That assumes he wants to stay, which is definitely an open question.

There are some folks who just hate Bill. No telling why. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t do what they think he should do, yet he is commonly acknowledged as the GOAT HC despite their disagreements with his decisions.
Who hates Bill? I hate that since Brady left he is basically Jeff Fisher.

People want a change. I think it is interesting how for years Belichick has cut players who weren’t meeting expectations or who were at the end of their careers. But for some reason people believe Belichick should not be treated the same way.

Bottom line is this team has not won a playoff game since 2018. That is nearly half a decade.

Idiots want a change. Sane Patriot fans know that firing Belichick would be lunacy.

Actually, he is not.

The first order of business is to hire a GM. Also, i though Mayo was the coach in waiting? WTF is Judge doing as the assistant HC?

Because Belichick will likely want to remain in charge of putting the team together and a lot of people are losing confidence in him

It’s wild that only 19 months ago, this team was positioned for a 1 seed in the AFC. A lot has happened since then, not much of it good. Hoping for a better-than-anticipated season this year. I understand why all this hot seat talk is happening but it still irks me. Also after seeing how BOB choked a four possession lead at Arrowhead in the playoffs because he was too scared to go for the throat on a 4th and 1 at the Chiefs’ own 13 yard line, I’m not sure I can trust him as Belichick’s successor. Rather see younger blood with a guy like Mayo.

I’m assuming it’s due to Belichick trying to build Judge back up in the eyes of other people around the league. Going to be tough…a lot of those issues made national news last season. Probably going to be tough for him. At least for the near future.

I’m just hoping the next guy can draft WRs.

How many playoff games did Fisher win without McNair?

When Belichick starts talking about players that haven’t been on the team in years on the Weds before that week’s game, we can start truly comparing him to Jeff Fisher.

That will go down as the most egregious thing I’ve ever heard and ownership should have absolutely fired him immediately. To not even be aware of the current roster at that point in the week shows you how grossly ill-prepared he was…that was unreal.

And he’s definitely under some pressure to hopefully get into the playoffs and advance. But it’s been just three years without Tom, so this year is key after what happened last year.

People know the context of the Cleveland years…I don’t get why people keep using those against him. That’s like holding the years Pete Carroll coached the Jets against him. Like Belichick, Carroll learned from his mistakes and eventually became a better coach.
