At first when I heard the Pats were interested, initially I thought "no way", but it would be a good idea because
1. Gives safeties experienced vet.
2. Could give him a 1-year deal, doesn't have to be full time starter.
3. If Bill drafts a safety that's not quite ready (i.e. Harrison Smith) he could have Bell, maybe Gregory fill in.
4.He beats Ihedigbo, and ESPECIALLY Sergio Brown

So what do you guys think??

I think this tweet puts things perfectly:
Yeremiah Bell would be another average player at safety. Another average player would still greatly improve the depth at the position.

Safety is definitely the position on the Pats' roster that would benefit the most from adding a very average player.

Sure, but is there any reason to believe this will happen?

His agent said the Patriots, Jets and someone else I can't remember at the minute are interested in him.

Eagles are the third one. I'm not that good at this so correct me if I'm way off here, but I would say we could mark up Bell for about 2.5-3.5 million/year, so I'd say he's also very affordable as well.

Let's look at the projected depth chart here if he signs with us-

Chung
Bell
Rookie
Gregory
Barrett/Brown/Ihedigbo
So depending on the pick we use for a Safety (probably from rounds 2-3) I'd say our safety core will be pretty nice next year, definately better than last year. I can't even name you who the original starter was alongside Chung week 1 last year. Ihedigbo? Barrett? Doesn't matter, it'll be better.

I don't like him because it looks like his parents accidentally spelled his name wrong.

Good depth. Old now. Wouldn't be a starter..but good depth

He may've just turned 34, bu he's only entering his 10th year so he started late, sometimes those players will last longer, and he did have 100+ tackles last year, so I wouldn't say he couldn't start.

Even at 2.5 million I think it's too steep for him. He's a SS and would back up Chung. He may have enough experience to handle FS, but he would still be a backup and I can't see the Pats going over 2mil for him.

Can't be much worse than whatever else we threw out there last season pretending to be an NFL secondary. Sign the beast!

We already lost a guy with a weird first name (Ben-Jarvis). I'm rooting for the Pats to lead the league in f*cked up names. Hoping we draft Donta' Hightower. Yeremiah would certainly help out in that part.

Meh....

Good idea depth wise, but we are still weak FS wise IMO. If we draft Trumaine Johnson (or similar) late in the second then the objection is over.

But if we don't sign/draft a viable FS I hate using a McCourty or Dowling at FS. We could also play 3 CB's pretty much at all times but short and goal - that would help having a SS heavy S corps.

O.J. Atogwe is also avalible at FS, another guy I considered, is also a few years younger.

This is the guy that the Redskins cut and then replaced with Meriweather. That's all that needs to be said. I'd much prefer Bell.

This logic doesn't apply to the Redskins. They seem to sign any player with any degree of name recognition, without a thought to system and fit. Mind you, I'm not saying that Atogwe is any good. If an actual pro team cut him, you might have something.

Bell struggles in coverage. I don't know if I would get excited to add him. I guess he could fit as depth, but he isn't going to be a starter. I don't see it hurt bringing him in on a Bobby Carpenter type of deal, but he really doesn't solve the problem they had at safety last year.

I said it in my original thread after he was released, he would be a massive upgrade on what we've got.
