Why haven't Drake's fundamentals been fixed?

You can think that, but I don’t buy it. If understanding quarterbacks mechanics and fundamentals is so easy why did Brady go to Tom House and others during the offseason to work on them? Fans like to think they know this stuff, but they don’t.

Of course, the coaches have responsibilities with regard to correcting quarterbacks and improving their techniques.

Just saying, that the coaches have been preaching that to him for several years. He either hasn't put in the time or is maybe not capable.

Just plain old football fans like me. Only played sandlot (town too small to have a team) so my only experience is about 70 years of watching, listening and reading about it. Even a dumbass like me can see when his feet are not set, backing up. Maybe what he is lacking is the commitment to working to improve or maybe he just can't grasp it. Regardless, it's still a thing and he's the only one that can do anything about it.

When, but how often? If it was every play he wouldn't have made it out of sandlot. Maybe fans are over-reacting. Plenty of chances to see him with his feet set. Also changes for him to improve, but let's not over-react.

Exactly, do we really know how much effort he has put into it. He needs to be the one to do it. Coaches can only demonstrate and require a certain amount of instruction, but he has to put in the work himself.

Indeed, people need to calm down. Plan A is to give Drake time to develop. Plans B-Z are all worse than Plan A.

It's legitimate to ask whether Drake is taking steps in the offseason to address known deficiencies, and if he's not, to speculate about why. This is a sports forum: what else are we going to do?

No one here has suggested that we shouldn't give Drake more time, but I'm trying to figure out (among other things) if his motivation and drive are suspect. I created the thread to get perspectives. I don't understand why you want to shut down discussion ("not this **** again") and gaslight ("calm down") folks.

If this were such an issue, he would have been drafted lower.

I accepted your assignment and I watched 22 minutes of Lazar on Mayes Raider film.
There was a grand total of 1 example that he called mechanics, and it was the first series, and Maye is moving forward as he throws.

I am no expert but with young quarterbacks always ask “Can they play the position?” which as we know is much much more than having a strong arm.

Minimums
- inspire confidence and motivate teammates
- keep the train on schedule (get in and out of huddle, get offense set)
- make adjustments at the line
- don’t lose games

Some might call this a game manager but If you can get these basics down you are likely at league average.

Elite
- make critical plays in clutch situations
- find ways to win

Very few consistently keep climbing the ladder.

Maye is young and will take patience but I hope to see him get to the offense to league average which means he can play the position, then we can start to evaluate his progress towards elite.

Im like you i just watch the game and have since the sixties. i couldn't look at the tv and tell you what defense they're in or if that was a wheel route or a skinny post. I saw a video this morning of mays overthrow of pop douglas, and even i could see how bad mayes footwork was, it was so glaringly obvious

QB's often have decent stats in losing efforts. Fourth quarter garbage yards will do that.

We shouldn't make believe the pathetic performance by the Offense was near average, or nearly acceptable. It may not be all Maye's fault. There is lots of blame to go around, including credit to LV for stopping our run game. It was interesting to see them put Crosby on Moses making more difficult to run on that side.
