Why has Bill the GM been so poor the past decade?

********. BB is absolutely right. If the player fits all of his metrics and has talent then draft him. If he fits all of the metrics and it turns out BB finds him "uncoachable", then he won't be a Patriot. A statement such as this shows BB cares more about the "brand" than anyone else
If accurate, Bill is expressing a change in attitude on his part. Bill’s statement doesn’t mention uncoachable players, it talks about players he likes. He‘s stating he coached players he doesn’t like over the years (seemingly on championship teams), but at this stage of his career he no longer wants to put up with the player he doesn’t like. We’ll that’s an unavoidable part of the job coaching in a sport with a 50+ man roster.

Meyers dared to defend Mac in the great Patricia Cold War. Now we have Juju and Parker on Bill's Christmas card list and when combined they have less yards, catches, and 6 fewer touchdowns than Jakobi alone. Good thing we ran that jerk out of town!

I can't think of any other reason they let him go. juju was cheaper I guess but thats also just a bad reason. Bourne also got put in the doghouse that year because he dared question patricia when after playing for shanahan/mcdaniels he could tell the offense was not normal NFL caliber.

I mean Meyers was a guy you developed, was a leader in that locker-room, performed every single year with 3 different QB's and then you don't even pay him and then pay some outside guy essentially the same contract? its either one of 3 things.

1. Bill thought juju would be better
2. Bill was pissed that Meyers was one of those calling out how bad Patricia/judge were
3. Juju came cheaper! better deal, more incentives!

each one is bad. its either you cant evaluate talent, only want guys who you like, or are cheap and want to go bargain basement shopping. could be all 3.

I mean we did offer Deandre Hopkins some lowball deal that was like 70% incentives to come play for a patriots team that just went .500 and missed the playoffs. and now hes got 919yards and 6 tds for the titans on essentially a 1 year $12million deal. but too much! need a Deal!

its like Bill doesn't realize when you don't have Brady/arent competing for superbowls good players wont take steep discounts to play for you. if the choice is between 2 mid-teams then they going with the most money.

I wonder what he didn't like about Kittle? Maybe Bill heard from his college sources that Kittle once had the gall to question a coach.
Like it's said.. he only wants players he likes. Wants to coach. All pros like Parker and myles Bryant. I have less of am issue with the defense for obvious reasons. This offense is like a expansion team. Maybe Keanu reeves will be under center Sunday.

Idk if Bill almost has a disdain for offense. Or just thinks it's easy because he had stability for so many years with Brady.

I mean sure we drafted some fine players last year. But in an offensive era when our defense was just fine while offense had notable holes he drafts defense first 4 rounds. Every position on defense has depth and backups. While offense is filled with jags.

You can't tell me there weren't offensive players he could've taken that could help.

This imbalance in roster building is why you have a good defense and a JV quit offense.

Our QB situation aside. No one could realistically believe the ceiling of a team where your top receivers are juju/parker/Bourne was very high...

The rest of the league is drafting skill players all over and we want to play 90s style football with a bunch of JAGs

You make perfect sense. I'm 100%I'm agreeing. I'm always going to appreciate Bill and everything he's meant to this organization. However we cannot ignore where the team has gone the last 4 seasons. We were able for 19 seasons witness greatness at the QB position. There we big misses along the way as well as big hits in drafting too. However in this case ...the equalizer in Boston wasn't denzel.. it was the GOAT. With that guy Bill was able to experiment with the roster and it didn't matter becuase we were still able to go routinely 12-4 with the GOAT.

I can't ignore the statement of him saying he wants to only coach guys he likes, and wants to be around. Look at this roster. It's not even NFL caliber. Teams have better practice squads than we have a starting offense. But know this... this is what it took for total organizational change, it had to go down like this In order for Kraft to to so... ok.. I've seen enough.

Worst part is Juju isn't even much cheaper. Bill and his aversion to retaining some of his own homegrown talent always astounds me.

I guess that the pre-draft interview for Bill boils down to, "Do I like this guy?' and the player's knowledge of the offense, defense, or the position played take a back seat, along with the measurables from the combine or workout, and the body of work from the college career. A statement like that should have raised a flag for Kraft.
I think it is "Do I like this guy?" as well as "Is his coach one of my friends?" "Do I owe this school a favor?" I think Bill has done a lot of things that benefit Bill more than "Doing what's in the best interest of the team"

Everyone Is wrong, bills right!!!!!
When someone misquotes something, they are wrong. It happens here all the time, people rephrase things that were said to support their agenda.

So the person who misquoted it is in fact wrong. How is that difficult to see through your agenda glasses?

Bill never makes mistakes, never says the wrong things. How dare they every misquote the great Bill Belichick HOF GM. Shame on them!!!!!!

Even when it's in black and white right in front of him Andy refuses to believe it.

Yes!! He knows it's the end. He's still thinking the allure of past success will will us onto 2024 and beyond. Andy just refuses to accept it. It took me a while, but I finally realized that we need to go in another direction to get with current NFL times. bill has really screwed the organization with this roster construction.

Yep. The lack of direction post Brady shows Bill didn't know how to approach the "rebuild" and he ended up straddling the rebuild/reload line and nothing worked and now we have bottomed out.

You are just being ignorant now.

Absolutely spot on! We hoped it wouldn't look like this. We put up with him playing a part in Brady not being here. But this it's hard for fans to ignore. We are as currently constructed not set up for future success. He's run the Kraft family's organization into nfl purgatory

Nick Caley, is a guy I believe had the balls to say no Bill I'm becoming OC without the title.. per the herald reports. He got exposed last season that was really the undoubtedly undoing. His loyalty to Joe and Matt. Guess just doing what's best for the team right.

Harry's noted ability in scouting reports was 'making contested catches', IIRC. You know what that means? It means he wasn't getting open. In college, you should be wrecking most of your opponents if you're NFL ready. Most of the guys you're going against won't even play a down in a NFL preseason game, never mind make the regular season roster. That's not a skill I'd be hyped about. Give me the guys who 'confuse' some scouts in that they 'just know how to get open'. Those are skills that are more likely to be transferrable to the pros. 'Slow' guys who still get wide open in college must know how to fake DBs out, run precise routes that are hard to defend. That's what I'd be looking for.

Like Puka Nacua, for instance.

Oh god yes. I had him tickmarked among the three Draft Guides I peruse. I've also liked Cooper Kupp, and George Pickens (partially because I found it fun that his dad is Carl Pickens, the great Bengals WR).
