I thought it would be fun. Silly me. LOL

The overwhelming sentiment, though, seemed to be like it was wrong. Or more categories were needed, which made sense. And I was actually going to take it down and bring it back with those changes.

Then... I started reading that people preferred participant ribbons... PARTICIPANT RIBBONS... and more than one poster disliked the whole concept... so, well...




...I lit the fuse and walked away.

P.S. I had a funky prize planned too... a gift card for $213... which I know sounds like "What the hell?"... however, that is the sum of 36+38+39+49+51. But somehow I think that could have been a problem too, even if I'd divided it up into categories. Oh, well... look at this as my Monty Beisel/Chad Johnson/Donald Hayes... a well-meaning but failed experiment. LOL

Nice try, @oldrover . No good deed goes unpunished.

I kind of come down on the side of those who think that are a couple of dozen posters, perhaps as many as 50 or so, who routinely make this Board what it is, from @Ian and the Mods who keep things on track to @alamo with his contest to @patfanken with his weekly in-depth analysis to a lot of people who either know a lot about football, NFL history or stuff in general. Most of them are polite. Some of them are annoying and some don't know when to let an argument die (I really wish we still had the "Beating a Dead Horse" Smiley). But, they all add something to the Board on a regular basis.

There are also those who only post once in a while, but who have interesting things to say when they do.

There are fans of other teams like @pherein and a couple of rational Jets fans (usually a contradiction in terms, I know) who add a lot to the board as well.

Even the blatant trolls contribute something, especially when they think they're being clever and disguising their troll-dom. They're actually fun.

To me, the core of this Board is a large cross-section of people with one thing in common: admiration of, support for and commitment to the Patriots. It would be impossible for me to single out a handful of them for any special recognition.

But, thanks again for the thought.

Okay let's be real. Lets talk about this board before I came around. Be honest. It was kind of on its last legs. People losing interest. You were thinking of becoming a Jets fan. Then all of the sudden the guy with the funny pic of a statue appearing to shoot a basketball in a hoop walks on the scene.

The key late season acquisition that takes it all to new heights. I am the Cousin Oliver your Brady Bunch needed. I "TV copped" the hell out of this slum hole and clean up these streets with my no nonsense attitude and disregard for the Bills of Rights. It wasn't always pretty, usually pretty, or really ever pretty except that one time you got way too drunk and thought "I could settle for this". But it was what you needed and planned parenthood isn't too many towns over.

So give me the pats member of 2016/2017 award. No one cares when someone who actually deserves it wins but if you let me Dances with Wolves someone else's Goodfellas it will be coffee table talk for years to come!



PS: Seriously. Manx deserves it IMO.
