Why do the Patriots only have 52 players on their roster?

For some reason the Patriots have had only 52 players on their roster for a couple weeks.
Haven't had a full 53-man roster since week two against Miami week one against the Raiders.

Cue the Kraft is Cheap crowd.

He was waived Sept 9, and the Miami game was on Sept 14.
The Patriots have only had 52 players on their roster ever since.

Is it possible that Eliot Wolf, Ryan Cowden, Matt Groh and the rest of the entire organiztion have overlooked this for three weeks?

Okay, but even in the Clive Rush days of utter incompetence the team still had a full roster.

For one week I can see, but for three?

Use the last roster spot as extended tryouts, if nothing else.

It's not as if this is a championship-level team that is so loaded with talent and quality depth, that there is no room for improvement.

Vrabel doesn't WANT to give guys a job for a week, then have to fire them.
My boss would NOT hire someone for a week or 2, UNLESS it was an emergency, and he would TELL THEM ahead of time that it was a temp job.

I’m guessing Mike is comfortable with the roster unless a really good player like AJ brown comes available.

My guess is Tavaii will hold that spot, I’m a little concerned to give him snaps I don’t know why.

And they lost two players during this time off the practice squad who were the most likely candidates for the last spot.

As others have said...could be for Tavai. Speaking of...I hope he lost 10-15 lbs. I have a hard time seeing him at 255 trying to be productive in this defense. He’s 29 yo…not getting any faster.
