By now we've all seen the video of Belichick at the coaches breakfast grumpily pushing the microphones and recorder away.

Peter Schrager podcast (day 2) of Fox sports tells what happened before the film.

He was camped out for Bill and saw everything. NFL Network screwed up. When putting the mike in Bill's face, they hit him. Not hard, but enough.

Yes he probably was grumpy before but that made him superdy-duper grumpy.

Mods please merge if this is one of several.

We're posting about microphone placement at a coach's breakfast and it's not even the post-draft doldrums. This is gonna be one gnarly ****ing offseason.

I thought we were talking about the rare occurrence of a mic hitting BB in the face.

The only other person I know that uses the word "gnarly" is my son in law...

Is that you AJ ?

I've read a few articles suggesting BB may have Asperger's - this incident being a classic example he does not care what other's think, he does not dress up, etc.

Those articles point out BB simply waits for other teams to either make a mistake and capitalize on it, or go by conventional wisdom and also exploit it. Both during a game and on draft day. I'm definitely not BB, but during the course of the day when I observe other people, it's less I feel smarter and more wondering why some people do really stupid things and avoid doing those things.

Although there's certainly a possibility that this could be true, my gut reaction would be that the media is simply grasping at straws in an attempt to explain why someone can go about their business without caring what others think.

While that's obviously true on some level for Belichick, I also believe that we've seen a very "human" side of him time and time again. He doesn't seem to have any issues outside of his profession, and always seems to treat others with respect in outside social settings, etc. I think he's just grown callous to the ways of the NFL, having worked there for so long. That, and I honestly think that some of the post 2007 stuff has made him less likely to want to elaborate on certain subjects, particularly when the public perception is already claiming that he's an ass.

I'm not familiar enough with Asperger's syndrome to make an informed opinion, but I think they're digging a bit with that. Just my opinion.

Another opportunity for BB to say FU to the NFL and its silly requirements and rules..

I agree- it's pretty much an amateurish diagnosis. While it's true that those with Asperger's do develop intense preoccupation with subjects, hobbies, or areas of interests, it's more along the lines of being very preoccupied with a very specific element rather than understanding the big picture, or having a holistic view on things, something we absolutely know is not true for BB, as he understands football top to bottom.

Example: someone with Asperger's who is fascinated with camera lenses and collects them, will not necessarily understand or be interested in how photography works, such as in how to properly light a subject, etc.

Those with Asperger's tend to engage in repetitive and restricted behaviors and interests, and we've obviously seen BB evolve over the years, philosophy-wise, with the offense and defense. If he truly had Asperger's he'd have stubbornly stuck with the two-gapping 3-4, regardless of personnel.

I did a search of Belichick and Aspergers and came up with quite a few links. When I looked at the top 10, which made the comparison in the heading, there was nothing in the article that supported the idea. Most never even mentioned it and were only message boards. Do you have links to the articles that were making those claims?

Is Asperger's cheating?

I have a few links that follow, but many correlate not caring with what others think as Aspergers. Note, there are a lot of laypeople making such assessments. For that matter, the same suggestion was made of Einstein - not bad company.

Aspergers makes your pee smell…………………..and that statement has as much value as the rest of this thread

The mask BB wears in front of the media is completely contrived. It's obvious that he views the majority of the media as parasites looking to drag people down.

The little we know about BB's social network, relationships, adaptability and ecclectic approach to everything he does is so antithetical to the symptoms of Asperger's that the credibility of anyone who suggests it should be immediately called into question.
