Who Is Sony Michel?

Brady was just interviewed and said he would also like to see White in more as well. Behind the same ol these were his stats four carries for 37 yards and three receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown. Sony needs more time to develop especially if we want the passing game to execute properly. Let him practice more since he missed camp. On the white td, you guys have to remember all the rbs that have tried that route and how all of them have failed beside Vereen. It’s all timing. If we don’t have a rb that’s in sync with Brady then it kills drives. Not here to say Sony is a bust, but forcing the issue when he’s not ready is a fail.

White also ran the ball in more obvious passing situations and teams expect pass when White is in the game.

White ran the ball at the end of the game when the Lions were content to let him get 15 yards a carry so long as he didn't break it for a touchdown or get out of bounds because ticking 25 seconds off the clock was more important. His rushing stats were garbage, it's why you need context when you're looking at numbers.

That’s the thing. Sony isn’t ready yet. Actually the team isn’t ready for him yet with the wrs we have right now. Brady kind of needs a pass catcher who he has more chemistry with.

To all those that say he's a wasted first rounder, look at Rex Burkhead against the Texans week 1. Was he doing any better rushing? Even last year, our RBs struggled early on, until it started to gain steam in the 2nd half. Furthermore, when teams need to respect the passing offense, the rushing offense flourishes. This kid wouldn't be getting 15 carries if he wasn't good. I trust Belichick enough to recognize that.

Great...we are now comparing our 1st round RB to a journeyman JAG. Not good.

Thoughts on Michel
1. I like his patience, but I haven't seen the same burst he displayed in college. There was a play where he bounced it to the outside then couldn't make it around a defensive lineman last night. He's simply not as fast as I thought he would be.

2. Although it isn't working well, I'd wager that the defense being bad has contributed to him getting more time. In my mind Bill is trying to develop a run game to lessen the time a poor defense is on the field, which hasn't worked.

3. As others have mentioned the fact that most of the time he's in the game they run out of obvious running formations is a problem. They need to run him out of the shotgun, but instead of having him go out for a pass stay in and block. I think he's a good pass blocker.

4. Gordon and Edelman should help him. Even if the Pats are setting up in the i formation the threat of play action becomes a lot more credible and this could result in more space for Sony.

3 of those carries were on the last drive when Detroit was giving us the run playing back.

I'm fine letting him develop, but in the meantime, White needs to be in either as RB or WR at least two downs every series.

He's a playmaker why we aren't using him much blows my mind.

He scored more points in FF than Derrick Henry did. I can say that.

Granted I don't visit too many other boards, but I don't know if many fans turn on their team especially such a successful one so quickly and more importantly without rationale.
But we do have rationale, or something.

The kid has played two games, missed all of preseason and a large chunk of training camp. Yesterday was not a great day for him (or anyone for that matter). The OL performance and the game planning/play calling have not helped him out either.

He needed to be eased in rather than thrown in as the primary back. Losing Hill was a blow. He looked good and would have allowed for easing Michel in.

Two weeks. Evaluating him as a bum is extremely premature.

That's exactly what they are doing- they're keeping things simple (unfortunately, more predictable) for him. But I think this is exactly the right approach because it pays off in the future.

He's processing huge amounts of information, and seems to be doing well with understanding the nuances.

You are wasting your time. This board expects Michel to be the next Ezekiel Elliot his rookie year.

For everyone complaining about Sony, just remember the 2 backs taken around the same area. 1)Penny is becoming a distant 2nd to Carson right now and 2)Ronald Jones- last night the Bucs dressed an udfa as their 3rd back. Jones has been inactive to this point

So they are calling plays that they know have a lower % of success just so the rookie RB can have things made simple for him?
